Maintenance Technician Location: Chaldon, Surrey Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £13.22£13.83 per hour / £27,498£28,766 per year (dependent on experience) Hours: 40 hours per week (hours to be agreed with line manager) We are currently looking to recruit aMaintenance Technician to join a newly opened specialist secondary school supporting young people aged 1116 with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing needs, often associated with Autism based in Chaldon. The Role You will ensure the school site, grounds, and equipment are maintained to a high standard, supporting a safe and functional learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. Your work will help safeguard health, safety, and general wellbeing across the site. Key Responsibilities:Complete maintenance tasks efficiently and proactivelyRespond to maintenance requests using online ticketing softwareAssist with movement and installation of furniture and equipmentMaintain and check vehicles, including mileage logs and usage registersEnsure safe storage of tools, equipment, materials, and keysAssist with regular inspections of building services, utilities, and fabricCarry out minor repairs, including carpentry, painting/decorating, and furniture fixesFollow health and safety procedures, including COSHH and safe working principlesBuild positive relationships with staff, students, and stakeholdersSupport any additional tasks as directed to maintain site operations Qualifications & Experience Desirable:Qualified First AiderHealth & Safety qualifications (Working at Height, Manual Handling, COSHH)Additional trade skills (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting/decorating)D1 driving qualificationEssential:Minimum 2 years experience in a similar site maintenance roleFull UK Driving License (own vehicle required due to location)Understanding of safe working principles and Health & Safety legislationMechanical experience or basic machine maintenanceCompetent in using a range of tools and carrying out general maintenance tasksIT skills to operate internal audit systems and asset managementFlexibility to work unsociable hours when requiredTPBN1_UKTJ
