Job Description

We are working with the Engineering Services arm of a well-established National Main contractor who are looking to appoint a Building Services Engineer/ Manager to join their North West team. They work with public and private sector customers throughout the UK and they have a diverse portfolio that reflects the expertise and capabilities that enables them to bring projects of all sizes to life, and work across sectors including commercial, education, healthcare, hospitality and student accommodation. About the position: Ensure that the quality of the Building Services installations is in line with the requirements of the specifications and project requirements by carrying out Inspections and vetting of sub-contractors QA procedures Quality auditing Training of RCT site personnel in what to look out for in snagging and defects monitoring Ensure that RCT hand over a fully working and functioning building and fully controlling to the set parameters of the design intent Assist in the sub-contractor selection and tender process for the Building Services elements of works Ensure all health, safety and quality procedures are followed in conjunction with the Group Quality Assurance Plan Provide site assistance and advice to site staff through the duration of contract works and in support the progress and technical meetings involving Building Services Coordinate the procurement and progress of site Utilities from the nominated service providers Work with the Management Procedures for Building Services and Commissioning Management and ensure that the MEP supply chain fully engages with the procedures To co-ordinate the production and receipt of Design information and the subsequent installation and commissioning of the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and other associated special Services, to ensure that the overall phasing and completion of the works are achieved as required by the Contract Programme and within budget Provide building services troubleshooting service on previously completed projects as required Responsibilities: Liaise with the design teams/sub-contractors to ensure tender and construction information issued timeously Assist the tendering process for building services to ensure cost plan is achieved Provide value engineering input into the Building Services package Quality Control of installation Chair and minute meetings with services sub-contractors Attend technical meetings with design team, site staff, sub-contractors, and utilities providers Produce monthly progress and Information reports as required Keeping site records up to date and deal with correspondence as necessary Lead the commissioning process to ensure a smooth and successful handover Monitor and administer a zero snagging policy for all building services works Ensure full O&M documentation is provided for handover Resolve any building services issues on previous/legacy projects Carry out commission support activities as directed Programmes to be monitored and maintained to achieve project handover SHE and quality standards have to be achieved and maintained Cost plan allowances to be achieved Assisting to achieve handover, on time, on budget with zero defects Requirements: Previous similar experience in building services in the construction industry either from a trade or consultancy background. Experience in dealing with building services consultants, architects, engineers, clients, sub-contractors, and specialist support providers Ability to communicate with staff at all levels Health and safety awareness Excellent communication and presentation skills Ability to build strong relationships at all levels Proactive, flexible, motivated approach to work Proficient IT user TPBN1_UKTJ
