Job Description Interim FP&A Manager / Head of FP&A PE-Backed Construction Group Duration: 3-6 months Start: ASAP Location: UK (hybrid) Day Rate: £500 - £700 per day. The Opportunity We are supporting a private-equity-backed construction and projects business in the appointment of an Interim FP&A lead. The business is experiencing rapid growth, increased project complexity, and heightened investor reporting requirements. This is a critical role, reporting into the CFO, focused on stabilising and upgrading financial planning, forecasting, and performance insight across the group. This role will suit a hands-on interim with strong experience in construction, engineering services, or project-based environments, who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, PE-owned setting. Key Responsibilities Financial Planning & Forecasting - Own and deliver rolling forecasts across P&L, cashflow, and balance sheet, with a strong focus on cash and working capital. - Build and maintain project-level and group-level financial models, including scenario and sensitivity analysis. - Support annual budgeting and re-forecast cycles, coordinating inputs from operations and commercial teams. Performance & Commercial Insight - Produce clear, decision-ready analysis on project profitability, margins, cost overruns, and productivity. - Partner closely with operational leaders to challenge assumptions and improve financial outcomes. - Develop KPIs and dashboards aligned to PE and lender expectations. PE & Stakeholder Reporting - Deliver high-quality monthly reporting and board-level analysis for CFO and investors. - Support covenant forecasting, lender reporting, and value-creation initiatives. - Act as a trusted FP&A partner to the CFO during a period of change. Process Improvement - Improve FP&A tools, models, and reporting processes (often Excel-led). - Bring structure, pace, and clarity to forecasting in a complex project environment. Candidate Profile - Proven interim FP&A experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure, or project-based services. - Strong understanding of project accounting, WIP, revenue recognition, and cash dynamics. - Experience in PE-backed or highly leveraged environments. - Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability. - Confident operator who can work at pace and influence senior stakeholders. - Available at short notice or immediately. - Must be able to drive.
