This hands-on technical role will support service operations while developing your skills through structured training, real work experience, and formal qualifications. What Youll Be Doing As an Engineering Apprentice, you will learn how to: Carry out safety checks and planned preventative maintenance Support technical service operations Assist with project work such as pipework installation Perform tasks related to mechanical engineering Apply problem-solving skills to improve equipment reliability, safety, and effectiveness You will study towards the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma , choosing optional units aligned with your chosen technical pathway. Potential subjects include: Plant maintenance Electronic circuits Power supply systems Computer-aided manufacturing processes Welding Training is delivered either one day per week at college or via block-release , depending on the training provider. Learning will include classroom teaching, practical workshops, and workplace-based assessments, combined with written and online testing. Entry Levels Available Level 1: Ideal for school leavers exploring a future in engineering and wanting a foundation in basic engineering principles. Level 2: Best suited for candidates with some engineering knowledge or experience. Offers deeper understanding and practical experience of engineering technologies. Can form part of an Engineering Apprenticeship. Level 3: Designed for more experienced learners or those progressing through an Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship. Focuses on specialist engineering technologies and principles. Desired Skills & Competencies Minimum of four GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above in Maths, English, Science, and IT/CDT Enthusiasm to learn and a strong interest in engineering Self-motivated with an interest in problem solving Good IT skills Excellent communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Safety conscious mindset Full driving licence required Previous engineering experience is not required, but candidates must show genuine interest in the engineering field and the fire 'security industry.
