They’re looking to onboard a permanent User Researcher with experience working in GDS-aligned environments.Location: Remote-first, occasional travel to client locationsSalary: Up to £55,000 per year + benefitsSecurity Clearance: Active SC clearance requiredKey Requirement: Familiarity with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and practicesThe RoleAs a User Researcher, you’ll be central to uncovering the needs and behaviours of end-users and ensuring digital services are designed with them in mind. You’ll collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver actionable insights that shape inclusive and effective user experiences.ResponsibilitiesDesign and lead research activities throughout the project lifecycle — from discovery to implementationChoose and apply the most effective research techniques (e.g., interviews, usability testing, surveys, diary studies) based on the contextGenerate and present insights that support evidence-based decision-making in agile delivery teamsEngage with stakeholders to align research goals with user and business needsFacilitate workshops and synthesis sessions to promote empathy and user understanding within delivery teamsAnalyse both qualitative and quantitative data to inform product or service improvementsWork closely with other researchers, designers, product owners, and developersChampion user-centred practices across the organisation and help embed research into delivery processesRequired ExperienceProven experience conducting user research across different delivery phasesSolid understanding of GDS standards and how they influence service designAbility to work independently as a lead researcher within agile teamsSkilled in selecting and applying appropriate research methodologiesComfortable communicating research findings through storytelling and visualisationFamiliar with tools used for in-person and remote research, and experience testing concepts using prototypesStrong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skillsThis is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact by shaping user-focused digital services in the public sector.
