You will be the only accountant based in the Newcastle office , working closely with a larger finance team of approximately 25 people in Cyprus and 1 person in the Isle of Man. You will report directly to the Finance Director (based in Cyprus). The role involves replacing the current post-holder with a comprehensive handover period of 11.5 months, plus coverage of 510 days of their annual leave (paid as part of your entitlement). Key Responsibilities Accurately process and reconcile a wide range of corporate accounting transactions, including supplier invoices, employee expenses, inter-company transactions, and other disbursements Oversee timely payment of corporate invoices and manage client invoicing, receivables monitoring, and inter-company reconciliations Assist with annual budgeting, quarterly financial forecasting, and preparation of monthly management reports (including variance analysis, KPIs, and trend insights) Monitor and review financial tasks outsourced to back-office service providers Support internal and external audit processes with documentation and queries Collaborate on process improvements, leverage automated systems, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK tax and regulatory requirements Education and Qualifications University degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or an equivalent internationally recognised certification Work Experience and Skills Minimum 3 years of hands-on accounting experience (strict requirement no less) Proven corporate accounting experience, ideally in a multinational environment Proficiency in ERP and automated accounting systems Strong working knowledge of UK corporation tax and VAT regulations Excellent analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and problem-solving ability Effective communication and interpersonal skills with fluency in English Ability to work independently while collaborating with remote teams Working Arrangements Hybrid working: 3 days per week in the Newcastle office, 2 days working from home Possible short paid trip to Cyprus HQ for initial training (typically towards the end of probation) Immediate or short notice availability strongly preferred Benefits Salary plus performance-based incentives Private medical insurance for you and eligible dependents Retirement/provident fund contributions Sponsorship for further professional development and qualifications Generous annual leave entitlement Flexible hybrid working arrangement Inclusive, open-door culture with 24/7 mental health and wellness support Clear career progression opportunities within a renowned global maritime group TPBN1_UKTJ
