Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Project Engineer (Powertrain Systems) to be based at our customers site in Gaydon. Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery. Role Summary: The Project Engineer is a delivery focused engineer within the Powertrain System Engineering, (PTSE) Technical Commodity team. They ensure their commodity is delivered with engineering rigor while embracing Agile principles of adaptability, transparency, and incremental delivery. The role bridges engineering, suppliers, and project teams, applying Agile frameworks to maintain alignment and transparency for PTSE commodity integration for on-cycle and off-cycle project delivery. Commodity overview: Air Intake System: Air Filter Element, Airbox, Dirty Air Ducts, Dirty Air Guides, Clean Air Ducts, Flexible Hose, Resonators, Sensor, Clamps Sensors & Brackets: HEGO, HEGO, PM, NOX, GPF sensor, Exhaust Gas Temperature (T3 / EGTS), DPS, Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF), Low Pressure Fuel Sensor (LPFS, WIF (water in fuel) Sensor and PCM Mounting Brackets (metal & plastic) Enclosures: Power Electronics Mounting Systems (metal pressings or plastic carriers) Fuel System: Fuel Cap, Filler Pipe, Filler Hose, Fuel Tank, Fuel Delivery Module (FDM), Charcoal Canister, Leak Detection System, Fuel Lines, Vent & Evaporative Emission Lines, Fuel Filters Exhaust System: Flange, Catalytic Converter, LNT & DPF (Diesel), GPF (Gasoline), SCR (Diesel), Gasket, Clamps, Hangers, Resonator, Muffler, Exhaust Pipes, Tail Pipes, Flex Section, Acoustic Valves Key Responsibilities: L ead Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, big room planning). Coordinate cross-functional activities, interfacing between design, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and suppliers to align PTSE commodity development with project milestones. Focus on both technical compliance and incremental value delivery to the overall project. Facilitate stakeholder alignment as required. Support the Product Owner with project planning activities: define schedules, deliverables, and risk management strategies for PTSE commodity development. Support the Product Owner with backlog refinement to prioritise design and release activities, resolve blockers, and adapt to evolving requirements. Lead the resolution of risks and impediments. Support the PTSE Technical Commodity team in technical reviews as required. Support the Product Owner and Group Leader with identifying skillset and training gaps/requirements within the PTSE Technical Commodity team. Plan and track PTSE commodity development from concept through to launch. Support the PTSE Technical Commodity team to break down development into sprints with clear deliverables aligned to project milestones. Ensure delivery within agreed budget, timing, and quality targets. Maintain live documentation using tools such as Confluence and JIRA. Provide regular status updates and report progress, risks, and mitigation plans to the PTSE Engineering Delivery Manager and stakeholders as required. Support D&R activities to agreed schedule, ensuring backlog management supports project timing. Maintain project documentation, including costed BOMs and engineering change requests. Foster a positive environment, provide support and encouragement to maintain high morale and identify value within the PTSE Technical Commodity team. Program Delivery: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including programme teams, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and development teams. Track programme timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure on-time component delivery. Support the PTSE Technical Commodity team with the creation of business cases to support design and release activity Experience: Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field. Automotive Engineering experience (OEM or Tier 1) preferred PTSE commodities, minimum a Powertrain commodity. Full UK driving licence (for roles based onsite in the UK). Strong understanding of JIRA. Experience with large scale project management and delivery. Familiarity with 3Dx, SAP and iCREATE Excellent problem solving, communication, and project management skills.
