Job Description:We are seeking an experienced Day Shift Control Room Operator to join our vehicle recovery operation. This is a fast-paced role responsible for managing live recovery jobs received from motoring organisations and allocating them efficiently to drivers and technicians on the road.A good understanding of the motor / transport industry is essential, as you will need to decide which vehicle and team member is best suited to each job based on capability, location and availability.Key ResponsibilitiesAccepting recovery jobs from motoring organisationsAllocating jobs to drivers and technicians based on location, capability and workloadManaging live job flows throughout the day and adjusting allocations as neededMonitoring job progress and vehicle locations via GPSUpdating customers with ETAs, including delays where applicableResponding to customer calls requesting job updatesLiaising with motoring organisationsEnsuring jobs are allocated cost-effectively, minimising unnecessary mileage and fuel usageMaintaining performance standards and response timesCompleting a clear handover to the night shift at the end of your shiftWorking closely with the wider control room and operations teamRequirementsPrevious experience in transport planning, dispatch or job allocation (essential)Knowledge of the motor / vehicle recovery industryAbility to manage a high volume of live jobs in a fast-paced environmentStrong decision-making and problem-solving skillsExcellent telephone manner and clear communication skillsConfident using IT systems, GPS tracking and dispatch softwareAble to work well as part of a teamDesirableFamiliarity with Apex Networks (strong advantage)Experience in vehicle recovery, roadside assistance or similar operationsThis role is similar to job allocation in a taxi or logistics operation, but involves larger vehicles with different capabilities, including service vans for roadside repairs and recovery vehicles of varying sizes.Working HoursDay shift: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:30pmJob TypeFull-timeJob Types: Full-time, PermanentWork Location: In person
