In this 12-month fixed term role (maternity cover), you will provide high-quality secretariat support to several expert policy advisory committees, primarily the Technology Law Committee, Planning and Environmental Law Committee, Tax Law Committee and Intellectual Property Law Committee. You will schedule and organise committee meetings, prepare agendas, minutes and action lists, and distribute papers electronically. You will maintain accurate records, handle queries between meetings and support appointment processes for committee members. Governance Officers also provide ad hoc cover for one another during leave or sickness. What we're looking for We are looking for someone who is highly organised and experienced in preparing for and supporting formal meetings. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to take clear, accurate minutes. You will also need to maintain attention to detail while managing competing priorities in a busy and fast paced environment. You will have experience working with senior stakeholders, ideally those balancing voluntary responsibilities alongside demanding professional roles. Your ability to build rapport and communicate effectively will be key to supporting our elected and appointed members. You should be comfortable using IT systems, including MS Office 365 and MS Teams. If you enjoy working in a stimulating policy environment and are interested in governance, we encourage you to apply. What's in it for you This is an excellent opportunity to work with contemporary thinkers in a progressive membership organisation. The successful candidate will join a strong brand with a reputation for excellence and legal expertise, committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, and a culture of trust, clarity and respect. We offer hybrid working, a generous flexible benefits package, a friendly working environment and the opportunity to develop your career within a professional organisation. Please note: if you are an internal applicant, Pay Policy will apply. The Law Society represents solicitors in England and Wales. From negotiating with and lobbying the profession's regulators, government and other decision makers, to offering training and advice, we're here to help, protect and promote solicitors. TPBN1_UKTJ
