This is a pivotal role critical to aligning legal operations with BBC Studios’ strategic goals, enhancing operational efficiency, and championing innovation, delivering real impact by driving the transformation of the Business & Legal Affairs function.The role will work closely with key stakeholders to drive change, deliver the implementation of operational improvements across the Business & Legal Affairs function, including template governance, document management, the adoption and integration of legal technology, and supporting cross-functional collaboration.WHY JOIN THE TEAMThe Business & Legals Affairs team is part of the COO Group sitting at the heart of everything BBC Studios does. We are always looking to deliver operational excellence and this role will be a catalyst for this.Your Key Responsibilities And ImpactTemplate & Knowledge Governance:Co-ordinating the rationalisation and centralisation of legal templates and precedents, establishing a Template Governance Forum and Template Register.Developing playbooks, template lifecycle processes, formalising knowledge sharing practices, managing know-how repositories and working with the Business Legal Affairs teams to roll out training to embed best practices.Document & Instruction ManagementOversee the design and implementation of a unified BLA Site as the single source of truth. Co-ordinate and drive alignment in defining and agreeing document naming conventions and metadata tagging across all BLA teams and developing consistent Standard Operating Procedures for document retention and archiving.Working with key stakeholders to implement and centrally manage the 'Legal Front Door' intake system and the establishment of a recognised House Style.Legal Technology & AI IntegrationWork with internal and external stakeholders to support the adoption of Luminance, and facilitate ongoing training as required.Help identify and prioritise high-impact AI use cases for contract review and automation.Co-ordinate the roll-out of AI powered solutions with demos, training and user guides to ensure user readiness.Change Management, Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder EngagementWorking alongside the COO Group Business Partner act as the central coordinator for the BLA transformation roadmap to ensure a smooth and co-ordinated, holistic approach across all BLA teams which delivers efficiencies and improved ways of working, inputting into decisions around budget and resource allocation for legal operations.Managing timelines, milestones and stakeholder communications to ensure alignment on transformation efforts, compliance and that all solutions are cost effective and integrated with existing architecture.Data, Reporting & Insights And Process Improvement & InnovationDevelop dashboards and reports to improve visibility into legal team performance, workload, and service delivery, supporting data-driven decision-making.Process Improvement & InnovationContinuously assess and suggest improvements to legal processes, workflows, and tools.Essential CriteriaYOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCELegal background (LLB or equivalent) or experience working in a legal environment.Experience in media, entertainment, or IP-heavy industries.Proven experience in legal operations, legal project management, or legal transformation.Strong understanding of legal processes, contract lifecycle, and knowledge management.Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (SharePoint, PowerApps, Power Automate, Teams).Experience with legal tech platforms (e.g., Luminance, Docusign, CLM systems).Ability to align legal services with business objectives and cost-efficiency goals and experience in budget management and resource allocation for legal operations.Desired But Not RequiredProject Management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, Agile) or equivalent experience.Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and risk management frameworks.Experience in setting up audit and quality assurance mechanisms.If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.NEXT STEPSWe appreciate your interest in this position and understand how important this opportunity is to you.
