Sheridan Maine are working with a growing business based in Bournemouth who are looking to recruit a proactive and detail-focused Assistant Accountant. This role offers a great mix of day-to-day finance operations, month-end support, and exposure to analysis, reporting and audit, making it ideal for someone looking to continue developing their accounting skills in a well-rounded role. You’ll work closely with the Financial Controller and wider finance team, supporting the smooth flow of financial information across the business and contributing to both operational and analytical finance activities. What you’ll be doing:Carrying out regular bank, client and control account reconciliationsProcessing supplier invoices, expenses and payments accuratelyRaising customer invoices and credit notesMaintaining accurate debtor and creditor ledgersAssisting with prepayments, accruals and month-end journalsPreparing and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedulesProcessing employee expenses and reconciling corporate card activitySupporting management accounts reporting, including analysis of loan performanceProducing business analytics to support decision-makingAssisting with the preparation of management reports and board packsSupporting internal audit processes and control reviewsAssisting with external audit, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to queriesSupporting year-end reporting and audit requirements What they’re looking for:Experience in a similar Assistant Accountant / Finance Assistant roleStrong attention to detail with a well-organised approachComfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced environmentA team player with strong communication skills and a willingness to learnAn interest in developing skills across reporting, analysis and audit This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their role and wants exposure beyond transactional finance, within a supportive and growing business.Sheridan Maine, specialising in accountancy & finance recruitment across the South Coast, placing talented professionals in permanent, interim, and contract roles across Dorset, Hampshire, and West Sussex.
