With headquarters in Northamptonshire, our operation spans licensing, product design, sourcing, manufacturing, and experience delivery, setting the standard for quality and authenticity in motorsport memorabilia worldwide.Role Overview:The Industrial Design Intern supports the Product Design Team by contributing to CAD modelling, technical drawings, documentation, prototyping support, and visual development across a wide range of engineered and experiential products.This 12 month industrial placement is designed for students studyingProduct/Industrial Design who want to gain hands on experience within a fast paced, motorsport focused product environment. You will work alongside senior designers, consultants, and manufacturing teams, learning how ideas become physicalproducts through structured design processes, Designfor Manufacture (DFM), and real world build cycles.This role providesa strong foundation in technical designskills, documentation, workshop exposure, and cross functional collaboration, allowing placement students to develop the confidence, capability, and discipline expected in industry.Core Responsibilities:CAD Modelling & Design Support:Assist with CAD updates,component modelling, and small assemblies under supervision.Support the preparation of concept modelsand early development geometry.Apply good modelling fundamentals, accuracy, and organisation within shared projectfiles.Technical Drawings& Documentation:Prepare and update technicaldrawings with guidancefrom the ProductDesign Team.Create exploded views, simplepart callouts, annotation layers, and layout templates.Contribute to build manuals,assembly guides, and internal specification documents.DFM Application & Awareness:Gain exposureto DFM principles and apply them in practical tasks.Learn how designdecisions impact machining, fabrication, composites, and assembly processes.Support feedback loops betweendesign, manufacturing, and suppliers.Prototype & Assembly Involvement:Assist during prototypebuilds by takingmeasurements, documenting issues,and supporting hands on problem solving.Capture visual references and feedback to inform designupdates.Helpprepare parts, labels,and workshop documentation for new builds.Team Collaboration & Contribution:Workclosely with Midweight and Senior Designerson shared tasks.Communicate effectively with manufacturing, Procurement, and Creativeteams.Takeresponsibility for assignedtasks and ask for supportwhen required.KeyDeliverables & KPIs:Accurate CAD updates and drawing outputsdelivered to schedule.Thorough, reliablesupport on documentation tasks.Demonstrated learningand application of manufacturing and DFM principles.Strong collaboration and communication with the widerteam.Improved efficiency of senior designers through dependable support.Ideal Experience & ProfileDegree in Industrial Design,Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or similar(1+ years of industry experience would be desirable).Strong foundation in CAD modelling.A basic understanding of manufacturing processesincluding:CNC MachiningFabrication & WeldingComposites and related processesPlastics (including 3D Print)SheetMetal & Laser CuttingGood visualcommunication skills for technical documentation.Comfortable workinghands on with manufacturing and assembly teams.Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multipletasks.Passion for motorsport, engineering, and premium productexperiences.Positive, proactive, and eager to learn withina fast paced design and development environment.Benefits:Wellness ProgrammeCycle to Work SchemeEmployee DiscountsRefer a Friend Scheme25 Days + Bank HolidaysFree ParkingThis is a full-time position.If you are interested in applying for the position please send over a CV, Portfolio and covering letter to harry.simmons@
