Job Description

You didn’t become a Building Inspector to spend your life firefighting other people’s chaos. There is a calmer way to do this job, without losing your competence, credibility, or income. This role is built for people who want control and breathing space, not an overloaded patch or loads of travel. The work here is deliberately lower risk. Part of the job is allocated to advising on BSA projects internally with a BR PD running the project. You’ll be checking complex areas others aren’t sure about, and adding real value without the need for travelling from site to site every day. It’s lower risk than traditional inspection, far more predictable, and genuinely straightforward once you’re embedded. You still maintain your inspection competencies, and keep your hand in, but without the overload. And you’re properly supported: four days working from home, a dedicated admin structure that removes the usual friction, and a leadership team that plans capacity instead of chasing it.You’re treated like a professional, not a resource. That shows up in the detail:4 days WFH, 30 days’ holiday, 8 weeks’ sick pay if life throws something at you, and even free lunches when you’re in. Salary sits between £60,000 and £70,000, plus a £5,000 car allowance. On top of that, there’s a £2,000 quarterly bonus — paid every quarter since the scheme began. If you want progression, it’s there. The business is growing and short at the top, with internal BSR assessors who’ll support you through higher classifications — which means more money, bigger bonuses, and a stronger long-term future. If you don’t want that, you can stay exactly where you are, doing risk-free work with a genuinely easier life. What you’ll be doingDelivering consultancy-led BSA work with minimal travel.Reviewing and advising on complex compliance areas.Supporting internal teams and quality-checking uncertain elements.Maintaining BI competencies through controlled inspection activity. What you’ll needClass 2D Registered Building Inspector.Experience working with Building Regulations and BSA requirements.Approachable and a confident communicator.About the companyA well-managed building safety consultancy that recruits ahead of demand, values people openly, and avoids the boom-and-burn culture common in building control. Growth is planned, support is built in, and nobody is left carrying too much.An old CV or LinkedIn profile is more than enough to start the conversation. Get in touch with Matt@ or Apply and I’ll be in touch (no need to attach a CV).
