Job Description

Begbies Traynor Group is seeking an Investigator to join its specialist team focused on the investigation and litigation of insolvency-related claims against directors and third parties. The team acts on a wide range of contentious insolvency matters, including claims for misfeasance, transactions at an undervalue, preferences, and other antecedent transactions.This role offers an excellent opportunity for an insolvency professional who is motivated to develop a specialism in contentious and investigative work. While prior investigations experience is advantageous, Begbies Traynor Group is committed to training and developing the successful candidate’s investigative, analytical, and litigation support skills where required.Key ResponsibilitiesAssisting with and undertaking investigations into the conduct of directors and third parties in corporate insolvenciesReviewing company books and records, bank statements, and other financial and legal documentation to identify potential claimsSupporting the preparation of evidence, witness statements, and reports for use in litigation and settlement discussionsLiaising with solicitors, counsel, insolvency practitioners, and other stakeholders throughout the life of a claimAssisting with asset tracing, recovery strategies, and quantification of lossesManaging a varied caseload and contributing to matters from initial investigation through to settlement or trialEnsuring work is carried out in accordance with statutory, regulatory, and professional standardsCandidate RequirementsA minimum of three years’ general insolvency experience, with a demonstrable interest in specialising in investigative and contentious insolvency workStrong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial and transactional informationAny practical investigations experience (whether within insolvency, litigation support, or a related field) will be a significant advantageA proactive and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a wider teamStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearlyQualifications and DevelopmentSuccessful completion of CPI / CII and/or ACCA / ACA qualifications is not essential but will be viewed favourablyAn undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline such as law, accounting, or finance is not required, but will be taken into accountBegbies Traynor Group offers structured training, mentoring, and ongoing professional development to support career progression within this specialist areaWhy join us?Company pensionHybrid work - 3 days on site 2 days WFHCycle to work scheme23 days’ holiday (plus bank holidays)Option to Buy HolidaysProfessional Qualification SupportEnhanced maternity and paternity leaveEmployee discount scheme (Gym, Retailers etc)Social events throughout the yearHealth & Wellbeing programmePaid volunteer time24/7 Access to virtual GP + Mental Health SupportAs a broader PLC group, we’ve doubled in size since 2019 and we have ambitions to maintain that growth profile moving forward, so we’re looking for people who want to help us shape our future.
