Location: Milton Keynes MK5 6FU Hours: Full Time, On-Site Salary: 32,000 per annum About Oakhill Secure Training Centre Operated by G4S Care and Justice Services, Oakhill provides accommodation for up to 80 children (male and female) aged 1217 years who are serving custodial sentences or are remanded by the courts. The centre ensures all healthcare, educational, and religious needs are met within the secure environment. Role Summary As a Registered Mental Health Nurse, you will deliver evidence-based, person-centred, and non-judgemental healthcare in line with the NMC code. You will collaborate closely with the Head of Healthcare, Primary Care Lead, Mental Health Lead, and wider MDT members. Shift patterns: Early: 7:30am 3:30pm Late: 1:30pm 9:30pm Main Duties Complete medication rounds and dispense controlled medication Attend emergency response situations (including observation during restraints and life-threatening emergencies) and complete post-incident care and paperwork Triage and assess patients during admission and treatment runs Refer children to other healthcare professionals and follow up on medical plans Manage minor illnesses and injuries Act as named lead nurse for a healthcare area Play a key role in Early Days in Custody assessments and risk management Ensure effective pre-release care planning Undertake comprehensive assessments and feedback to the MDT Develop, implement, and review individual care and risk management plans Monitor progress and effectiveness of care plans Build effective relationships with external agencies (local health services, social services, mental health teams) to ensure continuity of care Person Specification Essential: NMC pin holder Experience in healthcare environments (hospital, custody, community, clinics) Evidence of continuing professional development Knowledge of current professional issues Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organisational skills; able to plan and prioritise effectively Ability to make sound decisions under pressure Competent in IT applications (Word, SystmOne, Gmail, Google Suite, web-based systems) Desirable: Previous employment in a custodial setting Experience working with young people in secure or custodial environments Minimum of 1 year post-registration clinical experience Compliance This role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
