This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and confident Optometrist to join their expanding clinical team and play a key role in the development of a newly established, high-end clinic in Central London.This position offers the opportunity to work closely with some of the UK’s most respected surgeons, providing exceptional patient care across a range of laser and lens-based procedures — with no commercial or retail targets, and a focus purely on clinical excellence.The RoleThis is a full-time clinical role, based primarily at the Central London clinic (approximately 80–90% of the time), with occasional support required at sister sites.You will perform a range of pre- and post-operative assessments for patients undergoing procedures such as SMILE, LASIK, PRK/LASEK, ICL, and Refractive Lens Exchange (including EDOF, trifocal, and toric IOLs).As the sole Optometrist at the site, you will work closely with two surgeons and take ownership of the clinic’s optometric services, helping to shape and develop the role over time. You will also collaborate with a wider network of optometrists and clinical staff across the organisation, ensuring consistently high standards of care.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive diagnostic and suitability examinations for refractive and lens-based proceduresManage pre- and post-operative consultations, providing detailed clinical assessments and patient guidanceLiaise closely with surgeons to ensure continuity and accuracy of patient careTake ownership of the optometry function at Knightsbridge, developing processes and suggesting improvementswhere neededProvide occasional clinical cover at other Central London clinics when requiredContribute to ongoing service development and uphold the clinic’s reputation for clinical excellenceCandidate ProfileGOC-registered Optometrist with a minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experienceStrong general optometry background; experience in private practice or hospital settings preferredPrevious exposure to refractive or lens-based surgery desirable but not essential — full specialist training will be providedConfident, independent, and adaptable, capable of working autonomously as the sole optometrist on-siteStrong communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to engage effectively with surgeons and clinical colleaguesFlexible and reliable, with the ability to adapt to a changing clinic environment and occasional Saturday workWorking PatternFull-time, 5 days per week (Monday–Saturday)Rotating hours between 8am–5pm, 9am–6pm, or 10am–7pm depending on clinic schedulingOccasional Saturdays required, ideally every other week (flexibility can be accommodated)Diaries are planned 3 months in advance, allowing consideration for personal commitmentsRewards and BenefitsSalary from £65,000 to £75,000 (dependent on experience)Private health and dental insuranceTravel card loanAnnual training budget and study leaveOpportunities to attend leading refractive conferences in the UK and abroadClinic away days and team social eventsFull training in advanced refractive and lens-based techniquesWhy Apply?This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a newly created role within a high-end refractive surgery clinic, working with pioneering surgeons and gaining exposure to advanced procedures and technologies.
