Job Description

A law enforcement organisation based at London Bridge is seeking a number of PIP2 Accredited Investigators to join in new contract positions, we are seeking highly skilled and motivated investigators to join the Inner London Investigations team. This role focuses on investigating serious and complex crimes safely and effectively, ensuring victims remain at the heart of all decisions and actions. You will use a range of investigative approaches to gather material, assess risk, and deliver appropriate outcomes in line with legislation and organisational priorities.The roles have start dates as soon as possible and will run until the end of March 2026 with potential to be extended, the positions are based onsite from Iverson House, London Bridge. We are able to offer an hourly rate of £27.18 via an Umbrella company or PAYE options are also available. Key ResponsibilitiesInvestigative Planning: Develop proportionate investigation plans and strategies, prioritising lines of enquiry and resource allocation across force, regional, or national levels.Evidence Gathering: Collect, secure, and preserve material, intelligence, and evidence from multiple sources, ensuring continuity and evidential integrity.Interviewing: Conduct interviews with victims, witnesses, and suspects in accordance with PACE and investigative standards, generating additional lines of enquiry where necessary.Use of Powers: Exercise designated powers under the Police Reform Act, including search, seizure, and arrest, applying necessity tests and safeguarding principles.Victim Care: Complete risk and needs assessments, formulate victim strategies, and liaise with victim care units to ensure safety and wellbeing.Disclosure & Case Management: Prepare disclosure schedules in line with CPIA, liaise with CPS and legal representatives, and manage case files through to court presentation.Safeguarding: Respond to safeguarding concerns, particularly in cases involving vulnerable adults, children, domestic abuse, and sexual offences.Skills & CompetenciesStrong analytical and decision-making skills.Effective communication and interviewing techniques.Ability to manage complex investigations independently.Knowledge of relevant legislation (PACE, CPIA, Police Reform Act).Competence in IT systems for intelligence and case management.Qualifications & AccreditationMust hold PIP Level 2 accreditation.Completion of relevant training and continuous professional development (CPD) as per force and College of Policing standards.Additional RequirementsAbility to travel across force areas and nationally as required.Full UK driving licence (due to operational deployment needs).Enhanced vetting and psychological screening for sensitive cases.Typical InvestigationsRobbery offences (focus on raising robbery detections).Serious assaults, sexual offences, child abuse, domestic abuse.Complex fraud, cyber-enabled crime, and homicide support.Coronial investigations into sudden or suspicious deaths.
