The lab works on externally funded projects in collaboration with academic institutions, industry partners, and public sector organisations across Europe.Key focus areas include digital health, accessibility, and responsible AI, with strong emphasis on clinical relevance, regulatory compliance, and measurable impact.Role OverviewOur client is seeking an experienced Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning Engineer with a strong healthcare or biomedical background to join their Technology Incubation & Innovation Lab.The role focuses on developing AI driven predictive healthcare and accessibility solutions using real world data from wearables, IoT devices, and electronic health records. You will work on projects that bridge research and production, ensuring solutions are clinically meaningful, explainable, and compliant with healthcare regulations.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and optimise machine learning models for disease prediction, early diagnosis, and personalised healthcareProcess and analyse structured and unstructured healthcare data, including EHRs, wearable sensor data, and medical signalsWork with healthcare data standards such as HL7 and FHIRDevelop and validate time series models using physiological signals such as ECG and PPGApply explainable AI techniques to ensure transparency and trust in clinical settingsContribute to AI driven personalisation strategies for proactive health monitoringDevelop AI powered accessibility solutions using multimodal AI across text, image, and audioEnsure compliance with healthcare regulations including GDPR, MDR, HIPAA, and EHDSCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams including clinicians, researchers, engineers, and external partnersProduce clear technical documentation and structured deliverables for EU funded projectsEssential Qualifications and ExperiencePhD with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or MSc with at least 5 years of relevant experience, in biomedical engineering, health data science, machine learning, or a closely related fieldStrong understanding of cardiovascular diseases, clinical risk factors, and healthcare workflowsProven experience working with real world healthcare data, including EHRs and wearable devicesExpertise in handling missing data, outliers, and feature engineering in medical datasetsStrong experience in time series analysis for physiological signals such as ECG or PPGProficiency in Python for data analysis, hypothesis testing, and machine learningExperience with supervised and unsupervised learning methods and model evaluationStrong understanding of metrics such as AUC ROC, precision, recall, and cross validationExperience deploying or validating predictive models in clinical or regulated healthcare environmentsAbility to create clear and meaningful data visualisations using tools such as Matplotlib or SeabornDesirable Skills and ExperienceFamiliarity with healthcare regulatory and compliance frameworksExperience with deep learning, reinforcement learning, or federated learning approachesExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or AzureKnowledge of explainable AI, bias mitigation, and ethical AI practicesExposure to multimodal AI including text, image, and audio based modelsExperience contributing to EU funded research or innovation programmesSoft Skills and Personal AttributesStrong documentation and reporting skills for structured project deliverablesPassion for applying AI to healthcare, accessibility, and digital inclusionAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with diverse teamsComfortable working in a research driven environment with evolving requirementsStrong communication skills, able to translate technical work into clear insightsAdditional InformationOur client operates under strict confidentiality and trade secret policies.
