The OpportunityAs a Consultant / Expert Witness in Industrial Safety, you will combine strategic safety leadership, consultancy and expert witness development. You will:Lead complex safety consultancy projects across diverse high-hazard sectors.Provide authoritative advice on CDM compliance, risk assessment, audits, and safety management systems.Develop expert witness capability, prepare court-ready reports and support litigation.Influence senior leaders and boards, helping them shape safety strategy and improve risk decision-making.Contribute to Finch’s technical voice through publications, training, industry committees and thought leadership.What Success Looks LikeA respected, authoritative consultant whose insights change the way organisations think about safety. Someone who can cut through complexity, improve systems, and demonstrate clear, defensible reasoning whether in the boardroom, on the shop floor or in the courtroom.What We’re Looking ForIndividuals from consultancy, industry, or regulatory bodies.Established career at senior level setting strategy and overseeing safety in complex highly regulated environments.Experienced accident investigator, building clear learning-centered investigation reports.Have, or aspire to develop, expert witness capability.Key RequirementsRelevant qualifications in engineering, health and safety or a related technical discipline.Professional membership/chartered status.Significant experience in complex, highly regulated or high-hazard environments (10–15 years desirable).In-depth knowledge of UK/GB health and safety legislation, industry standards and good practice.Strong conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to simplify and communicate complex risk issues.Consultancy capability: scoping, budgeting, reporting and client relationship management.
