Electronics Engineer Location: York (Hybrid WFH Available)Salary: £50,000 plus benefitsKO2 is partnering with a technology-driven organisation in York that designs and manufactures IoT-connected electronic devices for deployment in demanding real-world environments. They are looking to strengthen their hardware team with an Electronics Engineer who has strong hands-on design experience and a passion for robust, production-ready electronics.Role OverviewYou will be responsible for the design, development, and validation of electronic hardware used in connected products. The role covers the full lifecycle, from early concept and architecture definition through to schematic design, PCB layout, testing, certification, and manufacture.You’ll work closely with firmware, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure reliable, low-power, and scalable IoT solutions.Key Technical ResponsibilitiesDesign analogue and digital circuits for microcontroller-based systemsSchematic capture and multi-layer PCB design (typically 4–8 layers)Component selection, derating, and lifecycle managementLow-power design for battery-operated devicesHardware support for embedded firmware development and debugBoard bring-up, fault finding, and root cause analysisValidation, verification, and environmental testingSupport EMC, safety, and regulatory compliance (CE / UKCA / FCC)Required Technical SkillsStrong fundamentals in analogue and digital electronicsExperience designing around microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M or similar)Proven experience with schematic capture and PCB layout toolsExperience with hardware debugging tools (oscilloscope, logic analyser, JTAG/SWD)Knowledge of design for manufacture and volume productionDesirable ExperienceWireless technologies: Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-Fi, LoRaWAN, Cellular (LTE-M / NB-IoT)High-speed or sensitive analogue layout techniquesEMC mitigation techniques and pre-compliance testingExperience taking products through certification and into mass productionWhat’s OfferedTechnically focused role with real ownership of hardware designOpportunity to work on complex, production IoT systemsHybrid working from a York-based engineering teamCompetitive salary and benefitsLong-term product roadmap and stable engineering environmentThis role would suit an Electronics Engineer who enjoys hands-on hardware design, solving real engineering problems, and delivering reliable connected products into production.
