Employment Type: Fixed-term contract (24 months)Industry: Power Systems / Substation ProjectsAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Protection & Control Engineer to support a series of capital substation projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical depth in protection design, relay coordination, and automation/integration within high-voltage environments.Key ResponsibilitiesProtection EngineeringReview all existing protection schemes (e.g., anti-islanding, generator intertie, SPS) to ensure required protections remain and current functionality is understood before modifying designs.Lead protection design in line with internal standards.Review contractor relay settings, logic diagrams (incl. GOOSE), and operational descriptions.Perform or review area relay coordination based on system performance and fault-duty changes.Review relay settings for temporary builds and construction sequencing, including mobile equipment.Provide input on system model updates (Aspen) as required.Support implementation, testing, commissioning, and ensure protection as-built documentation is properly filed.Provide feedback to refine internal technical standards.Automation & IntegrationLead automation and integration design for all capital projects.Review/design SCADA point indexes, HMI screens/settings, protection settings & basis, and IED data maps.Create/review substation-level operational descriptions (HMI and relay front panel).Review digital substation maintenance-data point lists.Track required licences, firewalls, and key automation/integration deliverables.Support implementation, testing, commissioning, and ensure automation coverage for all outage steps (incl. SCADA).Candidate RequirementsStrong background in substation Protection & Control.Proficiency with relay schemes, coordination, SCADA, IEDs, and protection logic.Ability to review contractor packages and provide clear technical direction.Solid documentation and communication skills.
