Job Title:Home-Based TranscriberDays: Variable, within agreed deadlinesHours: Flexible, within agreed deadlinesLocation: UKA great opportunity has arisen for the recruitment of UK Home-Based Transcribers to work on a self-employed basis for Epiq, a global leader in the Legal Services industry.As a Home-Based Transcriber you will be responsible for the accurate and timely production of high quality, verbatim transcripts from audio/video files in accordance with Epiq Style Guidelines and contractual/client-driven delivery deadlines.If you are a fast, accurate typist with experience in legal multi-speaker transcription, excellent English language skills and strong attention to detail who enjoys variety and is looking for flexibility, then you are the perfect fit for this role.You will be computer literate with access to a PC/laptop where Microsoft’s Bitlocker encryption software can be installed and have a fast broadband internet connection, Microsoft Word, good quality headphones, an Infinity foot pedal and transcription software to play audio & video files.All candidates will undertake the Epiq online English assessment and typing tests. On successful completion of these assessments, you will receive full training prior to offering services.Security ClearanceDue to the nature of this work, successful applicants will be required to obtain SC level of national security clearance. Essential Job ResponsibilitiesProduce high quality, accurate transcripts from multi-speaker audio or video recordings in accordance with client style guidelines and delivery deadlinesProofread and check all work for spelling, grammar, style and formatting prior to submissionUndertake cross-training on a variety of transcription contracts as directed by the businessMaintain familiarity with various audio playback platforms such as FTR (training will be provided if required)Maintain close communication with other transcribers and Transcription Manager/CoordinatorAction any feedback provided by the Transcription Manager/Coordinator in relation to quality or timelinessPartake in annual information security and compliance trainingComply with Epiq’s Code of Conduct, policies and proceduresMaintain safe remote work practices at all timesQualifications & CompetenciesEducated to minimum A level or equivalent standardExcellent English language & editing skillsHigh degree of accuracy and attention to detailCopy typing at a minimum speed of 60 wpmAbility to manage workload and meet assignment deadlinesComputer literate – ability to effectively problem-solveFlexibility and responsivenessGood general knowledge and interest in the lawConfidentiality and discretion at all times - ability to handle challenging materialExperience in similar audio transcription roles would be desirableRewardsA competitive rate of payAbility to work from homeFlexibility - earn extra money when it suits youFull training providedApplicationsIf you are interested in this role and have the skills and key competencies required, please email your CV and a cover letter detailing your suitability to [email protected] thank all applicants for their interest.
