Locum Pharmacist - Band 8aRate - 30-35 (Negotiable)If you are interested in applying for this job, please make sure you meet the following requirements as listed below.About the RoleWe are working in partnership with an NHS service to recruit a dedicated and motivated Pharmacist to join a supportive team.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide pharmacy services in line with GPhC standards, SOPs, and contractual requirementsClinically check prescriptions for appropriateness, interactions, contraindications, and dosingDispense and supervise dispensing activity accurately and safelyProvide patient counselling on medication use, side effects, adherence, and self-careSupport and supervise pharmacy teams (technicians, dispensers, counter staff) and maintain efficient workflowManage controlled drugs and ensure safe storage, record-keeping, and regulatory complianceProvide NHS and private services where commissioned and trained (site dependent), such as:New Medicine Service (NMS)Medicines Use Reviews (where applicable/commissioned)Vaccinations (e.g., flu/COVID, where authorised)Minor ailments advice and signpostingLiaise with prescribers, GP surgeries, and other healthcare professionals to resolve prescribing queriesMaintain accurate documentation and use pharmacy PMR systems confidentlyPromote good governance, safeguarding awareness, and patient confidentialityEssential RequirementsMPharm degree (or equivalent)Current GPhC registration (in good standing)Recent experience in a relevant pharmacy setting (community/hospital/primary caredepending on shifts)Strong communication skills and a professional, patient-centred approachAbility to work independently, prioritise effectively, and adapt to different systems and teamsUp-to-date compliance documents as required for locum work (e.g., right to work, DBS where applicable)Desirable (Nice to Have)Experience with common PMR systems (e.g., ProScript, Nexphase, Titan, Pharmacy Managervaries by employer)Vaccination accreditation and anaphylaxis trainingExperience delivering NHS clinical services and supporting medicines optimisationIndependent Prescriber (IP) qualification (where relevant to GP/primary care roles)Experience in high-volume community settings or multi-branch operationsWorking ArrangementsFlexible shifts: ad hoc, short-term cover, or longer placementsWeekday and weekend availability may be required depending on site needsRates vary by location, setting, and shift urgencyWhat We OfferCompetitive locum ratesFlexible scheduling and a variety of sitesFast onboarding support and compliance guidanceOpportunities for repeat bookings and longer-term placementsAbout Flexzo AIFlexzo AI is a specialist healthcare talent partner dedicated to connecting exceptional clinicians with forward-thinking NHS and independent healthcare services across the UK.
