The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be involved with all aspects of the project lifecycle, seeking to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money whilst achieving the required standards and quality in accordance with contract and Customers and/or Contract Leader expectations.This role may work independently, managing a small commercial team or under the direction of and report to a more senior commercial designation.ResponsibilitiesUndertaking the efficient and effective management and issuing of accurate, timely and compliant notices and correspondence.Ensuring contractual and commercial risks and opportunities are identified to the Contract LeaderPreparation and agreement of applications for payment or the assessment & preparation of payment certificates.Maintaining registers of variations, delay, extension times and claimsCompliant and consistent implementation of the Company's commercial policies and proceduresAssist with preparation of monthly progress valuations and claims for work completedInterfacing with Customers commercial and project teamsProduce pre-Contract tender negotiations & reports where necessaryProduce monthly cost reports, forecasts, and Contract Leader ReportsReview value management and advise on Risk managementPrepare supply chain enquiries, negotiate, administer, and finalise / close out supply chain contractsPlan and implement change management and cost controlMonitor and update supply chain procurement plan including benchmarkingOngoing liaison with site team, supply chain and Customers representativesProvide contractual advice to the project / site team as and when appropriateMaintaining awareness of the different construction contracts in current useUnderstanding the implications of health, safety, and environmental regulationsEnsure all health, safety and environmental risk situations are brought to the attention of Contract Leader / Project ManagerKnowledge, Skills and ExperienceSignificant post-graduate commercial experience in the construction industry with demonstrable track record of achievementDemonstrable financial and commercial acumenPractical approach, logical thought process and a methodical way of workingExtensive experience of setting up and/or operating office management systems including filing systems and document control and distributionExtensive experience of technical minute taking at contractual meetings and able to demonstrate the ability to collate information, prepare reports, payment xjdpvnf certificates and interim financial reports and closeout reports.Extensive experience of drafting effective contractual correspondence and the facilitation of collaborative solutionsProven negotiating and team-working skills with the ability to motivate and lead a teamStrong analytical skillsDemonstrable legal, contractual and construction knowledgeConfidence and ability to assert influencePrevious commercial experience in the water sectorA creative and innovative approach to problem-solvingExperience of developing & implementing procurement and contract strategiesSkills/experience/qualificationsHold an RICS / CICES accredited degreeSenior Quantity Surveyors will hold or be nearing completion of Full Membership with RICS / CIECS (desirable not essentialBenefitsSalary range 65-75k depending on experienceCar/car allowanceHybrid working Durham office baseGenerous Company pension25 days holiday plus bank holidays
