An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly organised and people-focused Legal Assistant to join a busy and supportive Family Law department. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys variety, and takes pride in delivering exceptional service during some of the most sensitive moments in clients' lives. The Role Working at the heart of the Family Law team, the successful candidate will provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to fee earners, ensuring the department runs smoothly and efficiently. Key responsibilities include: . Managing fee earners' diaries and supporting day-to-day case progression . Preparing files for billing and opening new client files . Typing correspondence and preparing straightforward legal documents . Handling incoming calls, screening and prioritising messages . Sorting and managing post, emails and general correspondence . Photocopying, filing, faxing and general document management . Liaising with clients and third parties to provide updates at key stages . Supporting client matters where appropriate with professionalism and care . Assisting with reception cover and postal duties as required . Working in line with LEXCEL standards and Law Society requirements . Understanding Solicitors Accounts Rules relating to client monies This role requires a calm, compassionate approach, recognising that clients may be navigating challenging personal circumstances such as divorce or family disputes. Essential Skills & Experience . Ability to remain calm, polite and focused in all situations . Excellent verbal and written communication skills . Strong relationship-building skills and a collaborative mindset . Solid general administrative experience . Exceptional attention to detail . Comfortable managing a varied workload at pace . Confident decision-maker who takes ownership when needed . Professional presentation and flexible approach . Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages Desirable . Previous experience as a Legal Secretary . Experience working within a LEXCEL-accredited environment This role will be split between Bath and Chippenham.
