Job Description

We have an opportunity for a Shift Manager at our UK manufacturing site in Telford , Shropshire, UK.Working on a Panama shift pattern, the role will report to the UK Manufacturing Manager.The main key responsibilities will include:• Lead, support and motivate the team on shift to achieve site KPIs, maximise line efficiency and minimise downtime. • Communicate daily and hourly line performance targets to the Operations Manager in a professional and focused manner, taking responsibility for achieving these targets.• Ensure robust open employee communication and employee involvement to build a collaborative and engaged team.• Ensure full compliance with all legal and company regulations and standards including health, safety and environmental standards. Ensure all near misses, incidents and accidents are investigated appropriately.• Maintain all Quality standards, reporting and documenting all non-conformances Conduct root cause investigations and implement/verify containment and corrective actions using recognised problem-solving techniques.• Manage daily staffing levels, including holiday requests and all other absences.• Sustain 5S to achieve world class workplace organisational management.• Promote and follow continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., PDCA, SMED, problem-solving) to deliver first-class productivity.• Ensure all team members are trained in accordance with the Training Skills Matrix and provide coaching to the line manager.• Minimise site waste by ensuring all deviations from waste targets are investigated, with root cause, containment and corrective actions completed.• Act as a responsible person for the site outside of normal office hours, including nights, weekends and bank holidays. Escalate major incidents to senior management and the relevant authorities, e.g. Police, Fire Service as soon as possible.The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:• Hands-on, capable and reliable with leadership presence• Excellent verbal and written communication skills• A positive, influential and engaging personality• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, SAP would be advantageous.• A pro-active, innovative and creative approach to tasks and responsibilities.• Forward-thinking, with the ability to promote and embrace change by identifying opportunities to improve processes and system.• The ability to work under pressure with an analytical and problem-solving approach to their work• Self-motivated, flexible and a strong team player with excellent prioritisation skills• Proven leadership and management capabilityIf you are interested in applying for the position, we want to hear from you.
