As we move into the next phase, we are refining the mechanical design for production with a focus on safety, reliability, manufacturability, and scalability, preparing our technology for deployment in hospitals worldwide.About the RoleWe are seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer with strong experience in medical or robotic systems to join our growing engineering team in central London. In this role, you will hold a senior technical position, contributing directly to the design, development, and optimisation of critical mechanical systems while supporting the transition from prototype to production. You will work hands-on across the full product lifecycle and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure robust, manufacturable, and safe mechanical solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and refine mechanical components and subsystems for medical robotic platformsOwn mechanical designs from early concept through prototyping, testing, and production readinessApply rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC milling to iterate quickly and validate designsMake informed decisions on materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes with a focus on performance, reliability, and costCollaborate closely with electrical, software, systems, and regulatory teams to ensure seamless integrationContribute to mechanical architecture decisions and support system-level trade-off analysesEstablish and follow engineering best practices, documentation standards, and design controlsSupport design for manufacture and assembly activities and supplier engagementMentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineersDrive continuous improvement of existing designs based on testing, feedback, and field learningsWho Were Looking ForBachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field6+ years of experience designing and developing complex electromechanical systems, ideally in medical devices or roboticsStrong hands-on experience with rapid prototyping methods such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC machiningSolid understanding of materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes, including injection moulding and scalable production techniquesProficiency in parametric CAD tools such as SolidWorksComfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environmentProven ability to take ownership of designs and deliver them from concept to productionEligibility to work on-site at our central London officeExperience We ValueExperience developing mechanical systems for medical robotics or regulated medical devicesExposure to design controls, risk management, and verification and validation activitiesStartup experience or comfort working across disciplines and shifting prioritiesFamiliarity with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and production ramp-upExperience contributing to patents or protecting mechanical intellectual propertyWhy Join Us?At MMR, you will work at the intersection of robotics, AI, and healthcare, building technology that directly impacts patient care and clinical outcomes.
