As one of the UKs fastest growing health tech companies, we partner with over 1,700 pharmacies and support more than a million patients through our market leading digital pharmacy platform, enabling seamless prescriptions, medicine delivery and access to clinical services all powered by innovative, patient centred technology.Role OverviewWere hiring a Senior Platform & Backend Engineer (NodeJs/Typescript) to own and evolve our cloud platform, setting standards and best practices across backend services, frontend static and dynamic deployments, and the GCP infrastructure that underpins them. This role is primarily focused on platform engineering, while remaining deeply hands-on with backend engineering, with responsibilities evenly split between the two.Youll act as a force multiplier for engineering teams enabling fast, self-service access to infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling, while embedding security-by-default, reliability and scalability into the platform. Youll modernise legacy systems, build new backend capabilities, and make pragmatic engineering decisions that balance delivery speed, quality and long-term maintainability.Core ResponsibilitiesPlatform EngineeringAct as a platform enabler, reducing friction and accelerating delivery for product teamsProvide secure, self-service infrastructure on GCP, managed exclusively via TerraformDesign and maintain CI/CD pipelines that enable fast, safe, and repeatable deploymentsEmbed security and compliance by default through DevSecOps practices and platform guardrailsImplement observability as a standard: metrics, logs, traces, alerts, SLIs/SLOsDefine and own cost and observability standards, including budgets, spend alerts, unit economics, SLIs/SLOs, and operational dashboardsImprove reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency through automation and platform standardsBackend EngineeringOwn, maintain, and evolve backend services across legacy and greenfield systemsDesign and implement scalable backend architectures using Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJSBuild and operate RESTful APIs and event-driven systems (queues/topics)Improve performance, resilience, and data models across MongoDB, ElasticSearch, and relational databasesImplement backend security best practices: authentication, authorization, data protection, and GDPR complianceContribute to architectural decisions and long-term backend strategyWhy Join HealtheraYoull be a key technical enabler, helping teams move faster by giving them safe, reliable ways to build and ship. xjdpvnf Youll focus on creating solid foundations, so engineers dont have to think about infrastructure, security, or costs every time they deliver.
