Maintenance Technician / Senior Maintenance Technician Hours: 40 hours per weekRates: Senior Technician: 24.94 per hour + shift allowance | Technician: 21.68 per hour + shift allowanceRead the overview of this opportunity to understand what skills, including and relevant soft skills and software package proficiencies, are required.About the RolesWe are recruiting on behalf of a long-established, high-volume distribution and sortation operation seeking to expand its engineering team. Two opportunities are available: an Maintenance Technician and a Senior Technician.These positions are well suited to engineers with a strong electrical bias and hands-on experience maintaining belt and roller conveyor systems in traditional, long-standing industrial environments.This isnt a highly automated, robotics-driven site; its a busy, practical setting that relies on reliable maintenance to keep operations moving efficiently.The Senior Technician role will include team leadership responsibilities, ensuring maintenance work is properly organised, the shift is fully covered, and downtime is kept to a minimum through effective coordination and communication.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out planned and reactive maintenance on conveyor and sortation systems to ensure minimal disruption to operations.Organise and allocate maintenance activities safely and efficiently.Support fault-finding and repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment.Ensure all maintenance documentation and reporting is completed accurately and on time.Identify potential faults or operational issues and take prompt corrective action.Liaise closely with Operations, Depot, and Control Room teams to coordinate maintenance activities.Maintain high standards of Health and Safety at all times.Ensure tools, parts, and equipment are properly maintained and stored.For the Senior Technician:Lead and coordinate the maintenance team during your shift.Ensure full shift coverage and appropriate task allocation.Oversee workflow, supervise maintenance standards, and ensure safe working practices. xjdpvnf Provide technical guidance and support to other technicians.About YouWere looking for motivated and dependable technicians who take pride in their work and thrive in an environment where reliability and teamwork are key.You should have:A recognised qualification in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering (City & Guilds or equivalent)A strong electrical bias with proven experience in maintenance of belt and roller conveyor systemsKnowledge of 16th or 17th Edition wiring regulationsAbility to read and interpret electrical schematic drawingsExperience with PLC-controlled systems (diagnostic ability preferred)A flexible approach to shift work and occasional out-of-hours requirementsGood understanding of Health & Safety legislationA full UK driving licenceWhats on OfferCompetitive hourly rate, including shift premiumsOngoing training and development opportunitiesStable, long-term employment with a well-established operationSupportive working environment focused on safety and reliabilityAccess to wellbeing and employee support programmes
