Job Description

Our client is a well-established specialist machinery manufacturer and is looking to recruit a Skilled Mechanical Fitter to support the build and installation of bespoke friction welding machinery. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex, high-value equipment in a hands-on engineering environment with international travel and long-term progression.The information below covers the role requirements, expected candidate experience, and accompanying qualifications. The RoleAs a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for the assembly, build, installation, and commissioning of friction welding machinery. Working closely with Design and Engineering teams, youll play a key role in delivering projects from workshop build through to customer handover.Key responsibilities include:Assembly and fitting of machine sub-assemblies including spindles, clamps, hydraulics, pneumatics, and lubrication systemsReading and interpreting mechanical assembly drawings, hydraulic and pneumatic schematicsInstallation of hydraulic, lubrication, and pneumatic systemsOn-site installation, upgrades, and repairs at customer sites in the UK and worldwideOperating machine shop equipment including mills, lathes, and grindersInspection of components using precision measuring equipmentLiaising with Engineering and Build teams to resolve technical issuesSupporting project planning and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives About YouYoull be a practical, detail-focused Mechanical Fitter who enjoys working on bespoke machinery and complex assemblies.Essential requirements:Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds or BTEC)Experience as a Machine Tool Fitter or within bespoke machinery buildStrong ability to read mechanical drawings and fluid schematicsExperience with hydraulic, pneumatic, xjdpvnf and lubrication systemsConfident using machine shop equipmentAble to work independently with minimal supervisionFull UK driving licence and passport (international travel required)Desirable:Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skillsInterest in continuous improvement and best practice manufacturing Whats on OfferCompetitive salary (DOE)International travel opportunitiesVaried, hands-on engineering workSupportive and growing engineering teamOngoing training and professional development
