This role focuses on hands-on engineering skills and is ideal for engineers from automated warehouses, logistics centres, FMCG or automotive manufacturing or airport environments.Before applying for this role, please read the following information about this opportunity found below.4 on, 4 off shift pattern covering both days and nights.24/7 operational environment, flexibility requiredWhat you will work onAutomated conveyor and materials handling systems in a fast-paced live environmentMechanical, electrical and controls maintenance across automated assetsSortation systems, conveyors, carousels, scanners, sensors, diverters, ploughs and vertical sortation unitsPlanned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown responseElectrical systems ranging from 24V DC to 415V ACIndustrial control systems, including PLC-based automationFault finding on mechanical, electrical and control-related issuesKey skills and experience requiredProven experience maintaining automated conveyor or materials handling systemsBackground in automated warehousing, logistics, FMCG, automotive or similar high-volume environmentsStrong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skillsExperience responding to live breakdowns in time-critical operationsHands-on experience working to planned preventative maintenance schedulesWorking knowledge of PLC-controlled systems and industrial automationExperience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and O&M manualsExperience carrying out mechanical service works in both operational and workshop settingsStrong understanding of health and safety, including risk assessments and safe systems of workComfortable working safely with a xjdpvnf wide range of industrial voltagesQualificationsIndustry recognised engineering apprenticeshipMechanical and electrical qualifications, minimum NVQ Level 2 or 3Knowledge of IEE Wiring Regulations, 17th or 18th EditionWhy this roleHands-on engineering role focused on core maintenance and automation skillsExposure to modern automated systems and complex materials handling technologySuitable for engineers looking to transfer skills from automated warehouses or similar environmentsStable, long-term role within a critical operational setting
