Job Function: Plan, organize, supervise and carry out the build, refurbishment and maintenance of specialised equipment for the Water & Wastewater Industry. Supervision of safe and effective working areas.Duties & Responsibilities1. Plan and supervise the work assigneda. Liaise with the Production Controller and the Stores Coordinator to effectively organise and distribute all assembly work across the workshop teamb. Build specialised equipment from details contained in general arrangement drawings and instructions as supplied by the Engineering Departmentc. Work with team members to complete assigned workd. Ensure that all persons working and visiting the workshop production area adhere to all Health & Safety procedures 2. Plan and perform all work in accordance with established Health & Safety procedures and comply with safe working practices and requirements at all times3. Preparation of work documentation under the direction of the Production Manager when required4. Produce written documentation of activities5. Maintain progress against the works program6. Apply training and competency for production and use of risk assessments and method statements for the work being undertaken at all times2. Liaise with internal departments to ensure work is undertaken and completed to required standards and to the satisfaction of the customer. Note, the work assigned may be of high complexity, scope and value3. Follow company procedures and promptly report quality; health& safety and environmental incidents, issues and risks4. Understand and assist meeting specifications outlined and detailed in Engineering documentation5. Production and product advice, as needed, to other business sites, such as Newry and Aylesford6. Production and product advice, as needed, to site teams7. Carry out regular work area inspection reports where necessary and coordinate rectification of any issues/problems discovered8. Develop improvements to the quality, safety and speed of manufacture and assembly, complying with all Company standards 9. Use experience, skills and knowledge of the Jacopa products to support solutions to any mechanical engineering problems which may arise10. Assist other departments as needed and share experience, skills and knowledge11. Undertake facilities maintenance fitting as and when required, to include overseeing and carrying out any generally required housekeeping tasks at the West Bromwich facility12. Share production and product experience, skills and knowledge for building Jacopa products at premises of Jacopas approved supply chain, this may involve some travel13. Other duties may be assigned as required Person Specification Previous experience of working within the Water & Wastewater Treatment Industry would be an advantage but not essential Must have previous track record of working in a mechanical/fitting/maintenance role, ideally within medium to heavy engineering Manual handling training will be given as necessary Valid qualification in a recognized Health & Safety Training course (IOSH or equivalent) Experience and competency in crane operations and a variety of lifting equipment is required (refresher training will be given) Slinger/signaler experience is essential Experience required in the use of power tools and machinery such as drills, pedestal grinders and punch tools is essential Experience in maintenance fitting in addition to fitter/assemblers role Holds a full UK driving licenseLeadership/Supervisory Responsibilities Take a visible health & safety lead Allocation of duties to other members of the workshop assembly team Will be expected to mentor/train others Responsible for the work area and all persons entering the areaIndependent Judgment, Decision Making & Problem Solving Ability and willingness to make decisions requiring the use of a single variable in standard / non-standard situations Ability to solve potential problems during manufacture using experience and communication with colleagues Understanding when a decision should be referred to a manager or supervisorOther Skills and AbilitiesComputer skills: Experience with computers and knowledge of Company[1]standard software, Competence with a range of software applications (Excel, Word etc) Training will be given where appropriateMathematical skills: Ability to understand and apply basic mathematicalconcepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
