At McDermotts, we’re hiring a Setting out Engineer to join our dynamic team.We are seeking a highly skilled Setting Out Engineer and communicator to support the McDermotts function to cover sites in Birmingham Area.Please contact Alison on 07814 091547To be considered for the role you must have:We’re looking for a Setting Out Engineer with groundworks and civil engineering experience to join our team.Main ResponsibilitiesSetting out for foundations, drainage, and structural elementsUse of Robotic Total Station for accurate site layout and verificationOperation and integration of 3D GPS machine control systems with plant and equipmentLiaising with site management, subcontractors, and design teamsMaintaining accurate records of site measurements and as-built dataEnsuring compliance with project drawings, specifications, and tolerancesSupporting QA processes and contributing to site safety and efficiencyKey responsibilities include:projects delivered on time, to budget, and with quality assuredeffective cost control and elimination of waste leading to project profitabilitycompliance with health, safety, environmental, and other obligationsconformance with company policies/processeseffective and efficient utilisation of resourceshappy customers and interested parties.Education:GCSE or equivalent (preferred)Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering or similar)Experience:Proven experience in setting out for civil or building projectsProficiency with Robotic Total Stations (e.g., Leica, Trimble)Experience with 3D GPS machine control systems (e.g., Trimble Earthworks, Topcon)Strong understanding of construction drawings and digital modelsCSCS card (Engineer level or higher)Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering or similar)Excellent communication and organisational skillsFamiliarity with AutoCAD and digital setting out softwareDesirable:SSSTS or SMSTS certificationExperience working on educational or public sector projectsFamiliarity with AutoCAD and digital setting out softwareJob type: Full-timeWorking hours: 07:30 – 17:00Job Type: Full-time - ContractSite location: Birmingham AreaWhy Join McDermottsMcDermotts is a nationwide civil engineering and groundworks company based in Birmingham, supporting some of the largest construction companies across the length and breadth of the UK.
