Business Development Manager – Automotive & Automation Solutions – Midlands – £50–70k + CarRole: Business Development Manager – Bespoke Automation Location: West Midlands, UK (Hybrid) Job Type: Full-time | Permanent Industry: Automotive, Automation, Manufacturing Engineering Salary: £50,000 – £70,000 DOE + Company CarWe are supporting a well-established UK-based engineering business specialising in bespoke automation solutions for automotive and industrial customers. The company designs and delivers custom automation systems, test benches, poka-yoke solutions, tooling, and production equipment, with project values ranging from £5k to £1m.They are now looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to support continued growth across automotive, automation, and manufacturing sectors.This is a commercially focused role, combining new business generation with close internal collaboration to turn customer requirements into technically sound, costed solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesWork closely with the internal sales team to develop and convert new business opportunitiesIdentify and engage new customers across automotive, automation, and related engineering sectorsVisit customer sites to understand requirements and build long-term relationshipsCollaborate with Project Managers and technical teams to evaluate customer needsSupport the creation of costings, proposals, and quotations for bespoke automation projectsManage opportunities from initial enquiry through to order placementRepresent the business professionally with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, partners, and end customersIdeal Candidate ProfileProven background in business development, technical sales, or account managementExperience selling into automotive, automation, manufacturing, or engineering environmentsComfortable discussing technical requirements and translating them into commercial solutionsStrong relationship-building skills with customers at all levelsConfident managing both small and large-value projects (£5k–£1m)Willingness to travel across the UK for customer meetingsCommercially driven, organised, and able to work cross-functionallyLocation & Working PatternBased in the West Midlands 1–2 days on site, remainder flexibleUK travel required for customer visitsWhy JoinJoin a stable, growing engineering business with a strong reputationSell high-value, genuinely bespoke automation solutionsWork closely with experienced technical and project delivery teamsCompetitive salary, company car, and long-term progression opportunitiesIf this role sounds like a good fit, please apply via LinkedIn or contact me directly at for a confidential discussion.
