THE OPPORTUNITY Farha is an ambitious new Middle Eastern eatery, artisan bakery, and specialty coffee shop in Leyton. Were seeking a skilled and creative Baker / Pastry Chef to join our growing team, specialising in Middle Easterninspired viennoiserie and baked goods. Working closely with the founders and Head Baker, youll play a hands-on role in daily production while contributing to product development, systems building, and the long-term growth of the bakery. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves craft, flavour, and creativityand wants to help shape a new food destination from the ground up. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Production & Quality Execute full daily pastry and bakery production, including dough preparation, lamination, shaping, baking, finishing, and presentation. Produce pastries, viennoiserie, buns, and savoury bakes to a consistently high standard. Maintain exceptional attention to detail, flavour, texture, and visual presentation. Participate in tastings and R&D sessions to develop new products and seasonal offerings. Help build and refine prep systems, production schedules, and workflows to ensure smooth daily operations. Team Leadership & Culture Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and respectful kitchen culture. Support the organisation of daily task lists, shift planning, and production priorities. Communicate clearly with team members to ensure calm, efficient service. Operations & Admin Support the Head Baker with ordering, stock control, inventory management, and cost awareness. Maintain accurate recipe documentation, allergen information, and production records. Work closely with the kitchen and coffee teams on specials, pairings, and service coordination. Standards, Safety & Compliance Uphold high standards of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety at all times. Follow and support daily and weekly cleaning schedules. Assist with training and reinforcing best practices across the bakery team. WHO YOU ARE Minimum 2-year experience in a professional or artisan bakery or pastry kitchen. Strong skills in laminated doughs, pastries, buns, cakes, and chocolate work. Confident working independently while following recipes and specifications. Organised, reliable, and systems-minded, with experience in production planning. A collaborative, calm, and compassionate team player. Passionate about food, flavour, and cultural storytelling through baking. Curious, creative, and adaptable, with a strong work ethic and growth mindset.
