Job PurposeThis role is primarily about supporting our customers in the United Kingdom and occasionally overseas and ensuring that their Smurfit Westrock high speed packaging machines are maintained in excellent condition and run at >98% efficiency.Read the overview of this opportunity to understand what skills, including and relevant soft skills and software package proficiencies, are required.The Field Service Technician is responsible for the safety, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of Smurfit Westrock packaging equipment in use at our customer's sites.They ensure that we always work safety and are actively involved in the continuous improvement of our work practices as well as implementing projects.Role ResponsibilitiesEnsuring the safe operation and maintenance of Smurfit Westrock machinesInstallation, commissioning, and customer acceptance of new machinesProactively monitoring machine performance and intervening to ensure maximum efficiencyProactively managing scheduled maintenance of machines entrusted to you (actively looking for and resolving problems before they become issues for our customers)Assessing machine mechanical wear and conducting the planned replacement worn componentsImprove the knowledge and skills of customer operators and maintainers and creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) where needed.Actively involved with the team to improve our own work practicesTroubleshooting electrical and mechanical faults and quickly escalating to colleagues when requiredEnsuring that the correct tools, spare parts and consumables are availableInput to the continuous improvement of Smurfit Westrocks machine designKnowledge, Skills, xjdpvnf ExperienceIdeally 3 to 5 years experience of installing, maintaining, and repairing electro-mechanical machineryKnowledge and practical experience of PLCs and Mechatronic systemsIndependent, customer-oriented way of workingPerformance-oriented thinking and actingWillingness to challenge we have always done it like this thinkingWillingness to travelLanguage: English (Another European language is a plus)Project management experience is a plusLEAN and Six Sigma experience is a plus
