Interim Head of Finance | Cardiff/hybrid | 12 month ftc 56,198-62,491 Our client is a small to medium sized public sector organisation, based in Cardiff. They are currently seeking to appoint an experienced Interim Head of Finance to lead the finance team in providing excellent financial leadership, governance and support to the wider business. The Head of Finance will play a key role in contributing to the development of the strategic plan and lead on the implementation of Finance activities in line with the purpose, values and vision. Key Responsibilities: Work with the Executive Team and leadership team to agree and deliver the strategic plan, vision and priorities. Communicate the organisations vision and ambition with energy and commitment, connecting the ambition to the organisations delivery objectives. Engage with external stakeholders and provide expert and technical advice on opportunities for innovation, efficiency and effectiveness. Sharing learning with the wider Leadership team. Lead on the preparation and oversight of the organisations accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance through to final accounts. Oversee the financial management systems to ensure in-year spend is monitored and reported on. Actively work with colleagues across the organisation to manage budgets Provide expert professional advice to Executive and Leadership team and other staff as required. Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and excellence, learning from others and building networks. Ensure all financial policies and procedures are in line with current legislation and best practice Ensure that risk is identified and risk management plans are in place where appropriate to the role. Key skills: Qualified accountant, ACA, ACCA or CIMA Proven leadership ability, motivating and developing teams. Proven financial reporting skills, presenting results to senior leadership and Board. Up to date knowledge of best practice approaches to financial reporting requirements Up to date knowledge of legislative frameworks and regulatory requirements Experience of senior leadership and management Significant evidence of building strong and effective partnerships both internally and externally.
