Contracts & Claims ManagerApply now, read the job details by scrolling down Double check you have the necessary skills before sending an application.Location: Manchester (Hybrid)Rate: 500600 per day (Outside IR35)Sector: Energy / Power / Electrical InfrastructureSpencer Ogden is working with a leading energy organisation to recruit an experienced Contracts & Claims Manager to support a rapidly growing business based in Manchester.This is a high-impact contract role suited to a strong, hands-on contractor with extensive experience managing contracts and claims across large-scale energy or electrical infrastructure projects.The RoleYou will work closely with project, commercial, legal, and procurement teams, supporting multiple projects that vary in size and complexity. Teams can range from small project teams (35 people) to large matrix teams of 15+, requiring strong stakeholder management and communication skills.The role offers hybrid working (typically 3 days in the Manchester office / 2 from home), with flexibility depending on project needs. There will be occasional travel to site in Ipswich, which can be expensed subject to approval.Key ResponsibilitiesReview, interpret, and advise on customer and supplier contractsScreen contract documentation and highlight critical commercial and contractual risksDevelop and implement claims management strategies with Project Managers and Commercial Project ManagersIdentify, evaluate, and manage incoming and outgoing claims (customer and subcontractor)Prepare, analyse, and manage claims documentation in line with contractual deadlinesDraft or support drafting of contractual notices, correspondence, and claim submissionsSupport or lead negotiations relating to claims, variations, and contract amendmentsAssist with preparation for disputes, adjudications, or arbitrationsDraft and review contract variations, deeds of amendment, settlement agreements, and subcontract agreementsWork closely with legal teams to obtain reviews and approvalsAdvise procurement on commercial and contractual terms for subcontractsEvaluate contractual risk exposure and identify opportunities for positive contract outcomesEnsure contractual rights and entitlements are protectedContribute to best-practice claims management processes and lessons learnedEssential Experience8+ years experience in contractual roles5+ years experience in commercial / claims-focused environmentsExtensive experience managing claims and variationsStrong understanding of EPC contractsBackground in energy or major electrical infrastructure projects, such as:HVDCSubstationsInterconnectorsTransmission & distributionWindfarmsPower plant constructionExperience within construction, civil, or engineering industriesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and across multi-disciplinary teamsDesirableDegree-qualified in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Contract Law, or similarLegal / Construction Law qualificationQuantity Surveying background or qualificationExperience negotiating and setting up subcontract terms and conditionsWhy Apply? xjdpvnf Outside IR35 contractLong-term opportunityHybrid working with flexibilityExposure to complex, high-value energy infrastructure projects If youre an experienced Contracts & Claims Manager looking for your next Outside IR35 contract, apply now or contact Spencer Ogden for more information.
