JOB TITLE: Installation & Commissioning EngineerLOCATION: LeicesterSALARY: Up to £65kMain Purpose of the Job: Installation and commissioning of various types of Power generation machinery and training customers.Travel: Would typically travel 10-12 times per year for anything from a few days (Europe) to 1 or 2 weeks (further afield). Maximum single travel duration is roughly 4 or 5 weeks. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & KPIsInstallation & CommissioningIn house pre-commissioning to customer contract requirementsEnsuring that equipment works to its specification;Preparation of appropriate documentation including inspection documentation, test plans, test reports, site reports and manualsLiaise with all in house departments ensuring machines meet specificationCustomer demonstrationsInstallation of machines in customer premises throughout the worldTraining of customer personnelIndustrial electrical wiringInstallation and updating of control softwareLearn and implement applications for all the machines we buildLearn and implement application for different materials usedLiaise with customer and apply appropriate actions to requestsAll aspects of mechanical engineering including pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical fitting and machining parts both in house and throughout the worldDismantling of finished machinesPlan travel arrangements world wideInput to, and work in accordance with, the overall production schedule to ensure customer deliveries are met.Inspection and testingInspect machines to ensure that company are providing customers with high quality durable machineryTest the machines to comply with customer specificationTest machines to customer Factory Acceptance Test.Prepare Quality Assurance documentationPrepare in house Factory Acceptance test for machineryDeveloping and testing new machineryCustomer demonstrations/trialsPlan and run trials with new productsSound understanding of controls and instrumentation (including pneumatics)Post installation SupportMonitor customer Emails and react accordinglyEnsure all breakdowns and customer issues are logged and dealt withEnsure to log all outstanding issuesEnsure all checklists for job activities are kept fully up to dateQUALIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL SKILLSONC/HNC or equivalent degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical EngineeringUnderstanding of electrical, pneumatic and Hydraulic systems.Experience and understanding of PLC based software systems and diagnostics.Overseas travel experience necessary, including installation, training and technical support.Product Knowledge and previous background in similar industry is ideal.Sound understanding of mechanical engineering principalsKEY COMPETENCIESAbility to work and contribute in a team environment.Excellent communicator with strong written, verbal and visual communication style.Creative problem solving approach.Self-motivated, self-starting and highly organized with the ability to work unsupervised.Innovative, creative thinker with the ability to input into the design of bespoke turnkey solutions and standard products.Ability to work simultaneously on a variety of projects of varying duration.Adaptable to change, with a dynamic approach, think on feet and challenge the norm.Experience in quality documentation and procedures, ideally worked with ISO standards.Good understanding of essential H&S ManagementCommercially aware with ability to liaise with customers regarding requirements and continuous improvement.Proven track record of working under pressure to deliver quality work at pace.Ideally experience of delegating and managing work.Ensure products are specified and integrated to provide ease of use and maintenance for all users, including documentation and training manuals/instructionsAssist the production and sales of technical advice for special machinesDocumenting technical processes.Understanding the quality, cost and delivery implications of different technical solutions and guide our project team and our clients to the optimum solution for their situation.
