Plant Operator | Green HydrogenLocation: West MidlandsWorking Pattern: Shift-based, on-siteEmployment Type: PermanentAn industrial energy project at the forefront of the UK’s hydrogen transition is seeking a Plant Operator to support live operations at a first-of-a-kind green hydrogen production site.This is a hands-on role in a safety-critical, regulated environment, ideal for operators who enjoy being close to the plant, systems, and processes rather than desk-based work.You will be part of a small operational team responsible for the safe, reliable running of hydrogen production equipment during ramp-up and steady-state operations.What you will be doingOperating a green hydrogen production facility on a shift basisMonitoring plant performance via SCADA and control systemsExecuting start-up, shutdown, and normal operating proceduresPerforming first-line fault finding and responding to alarmsSupporting planned and reactive maintenance activitiesWorking closely with engineers, contractors, and site leadershipFollowing permit-to-work, isolation, and safety procedures at all timesMaintaining accurate operational logs and shift handoversWhat we are looking forExperience as a plant operator, process operator, or operations technicianBackground in industrial environments such as chemicals, energy, utilities, EfW, oil & gas, or manufacturingComfortable working in safety-critical or hazardous process environmentsFamiliarity with control rooms, SCADA, and operating proceduresStrong safety mindset and disciplined approach to complianceWillingness to work shifts, including nights or weekends if requiredWhy this roleExposure to a first-of-a-kind green hydrogen facilityLong-term role within a growing energy transition projectHigh responsibility, visible impact, and strong technical learning curveOpportunity to build early hydrogen operations experienceHydrogen experience is not required.
