Sub Agent – Civil Engineering (Airfields / Infrastructure / Highways)Location: Leigh (North West) with travel to major UK airfieldsProjects: Predominantly North West & MidlandsSalary: Up to £55,000 + Car / Car Allowance + Package (DOE)Type: PermanentThe OpportunityAn excellent opportunity has arisen for a Sub Agent to join a specialist civil engineering contractor delivering works across major UK airfield frameworks and other regulated infrastructure environments.The business operates across commercial, private and military airfields, delivering specialist civils, pavements, surfacing, drainage, airfield ground lighting civils and associated infrastructure works. With a secured pipeline of work for at least the next five years, this role offers long-term stability, technical challenge and clear career progression.You will work as part of a wider delivery team, managing defined sections of work with individual work packages typically valued up to £5m, within live, safety-critical environments.The RoleAs Sub Agent, you will play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of civil engineering works, supporting the Project Manager and ensuring works are delivered safely, compliantly and to programme.This is a hands-on, site-based role, well suited to an experienced Engineer, Section Engineer or Sub Agent looking to step into a stable, long-term position on technically challenging projects.Key responsibilities include:Supporting the operational delivery of allocated sections of workManaging site activities, subcontractors and suppliersPreparing, reviewing and managing RAMS, permits to work, ITPs and quality documentationCoordinating labour, plant, materials and equipmentAssisting with short-term programmes and look-ahead planningMonitoring progress, identifying risks and escalating issues where requiredMaintaining accurate site records, daily diaries and handover documentationPromoting compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental standardsAbout YouThis role would suit a Sub Agent or senior delivery-focused engineer with experience working for a civil engineering or infrastructure contractor, ideally within regulated or framework-based environments.You will ideally have:HNC / HND / Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience)CSCS card (relevant level)SMSTSExperience in a Sub Agent, Section Engineer, Senior Site Engineer or similar roleStrong understanding of civil engineering construction methods and quality controlA flexible approach to working hours, including night shifts and weekends where requiredFull UK driving licencePrevious airfield or aviation experience is advantageous but not essential — transferable experience from highways, rail, utilities or other regulated sectors is welcomed.What’s on OfferA long-term, secure career opportunity on major airfield frameworksExposure to complex, safety-critical infrastructure projectsA supportive, specialist delivery environment with experienced leadershipCompetitive salary, car / allowance and benefits packageClear progression routes into Senior Sub Agent, Site Agent or Project Management rolesInterested?If you’re a delivery-focused civil engineer looking to work on high-profile, technically challenging infrastructure projects with long-term security and progression, this role is well worth a conversation.This role would suit candidates currently working as: Sub Agent, Sub-Agent, Section Engineer, Senior Site Engineer, Senior Engineer, Site Engineer, Project Engineer (Civil), Civil Engineer (Site-Based), Infrastructure Engineer, Highways Engineer, Framework Engineer, Senior Civils Engineer, Construction Engineer (Civils), Site-Based Project Engineer, Assistant Site Agent, or Junior Site Agent within civil engineering or infrastructure environments.
