Our systems power intelligent automation, conversational AI, analytics, and decision support across complex enterprise environments, including customer operations in regulated and service-critical sectors.We design, deploy, and operate AI systems that must perform reliably at scale.As part of our next phase of growth, we are expanding our internal software house to build the next generation of AI-driven contact centre platforms.The Role:We are seeking a Lead Python Engineer – AI Systems to take technical ownership of our core AI services and lead a multidisciplinary development team.This is a hands-on senior leadership role, focused on Python engineering and applied AI, with responsibility for shaping intelligent systems used across contact centre environments. Deep telephony or VoIP engineering is not required, but understanding how AI operates within contact centre workflows is important.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor a multi-disciplinary engineering team, with Python as the primary backend languageArchitect, develop, and maintain Python-based AI services used in live production environmentsDesign and deliver AI-powered contact centre features, including automation, analytics, and conversational workflowsBuild and integrate speech-to-text (STT) and text-to-speech (TTS) pipelinesDevelop and deploy LLM-driven systems, including chatbots and agent-assist toolsOwn end-to-end delivery of AI features: architecture, development, deployment, monitoring, and iterationDrive technical excellence across APIs, microservices, and data pipelinesOversee code quality, testing standards, release cycles, and CI/CD pipelinesWork closely with product, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure reliability and scalabilityTranslate business and product strategy into clear technical roadmapsGuide adoption of modern AI frameworks, tooling, and best engineering practicesAbout You7+ years’ experience in software engineering, with Python as your primary languageAt least 3 years’ experience in a senior or lead engineering roleStrong hands-on background in applied AI and machine learning, including:Large Language Models (LLMs) and prompt-based architecturesSpeech-to-text and text-to-speech systemsNLP, chatbots, or conversational AIExperience building AI systems for contact centre or customer operations environmentsStrong understanding of deploying and operating ML systems in productionSolid grasp of system architecture, scalability, and microservices principlesConfident technical leader with the ability to guide engineers and influence stakeholdersClear, pragmatic communicator with a delivery-focused mindsetDesirable (Not Essential)Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar ML frameworksExposure to MLOps, model monitoring, or AI performance optimisationFrontend collaboration experience (e.g. React-based systems)Cloud-native or containerised deployment experienceWhy work for us?
