HGV TECHNICIAN CHARGE HAND Location of the HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Charge Hand / HGV Workshop Foreman / HGV Workshop Supervisor / Heavy Vehicle Charge Hand / Workshop Chargehand / HGV Chargehand: Near Wellingborough Salary of the HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Charge Hand / HGV Workshop Foreman / HGV Workshop Supervisor / Heavy Vehicle Charge Hand / Workshop Chargehand / HGV Chargehand: £45,000 - £47,000 Hours of work for the HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Charge Hand / HGV Workshop Foreman / HGV Workshop Supervisor / Heavy Vehicle Charge Hand / Workshop Chargehand / HGV Chargehand: Monday to Friday 7am - 4pm with and hour lunch (45 hours a week) BENEFITS: * Generous Holiday Allowance: 25 days, you also get to enjoy a day off for your birthday, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve. You can also buy or sell up to a week’s leave * Share Save Scheme * Profit Related Pay * Pension Plan * Family Friendly policies * Employee Discounts * Volunteering Day * Life Assurance and Personal Accident Cover MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB for the HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Charge Hand / HGV Workshop Foreman / HGV Workshop Supervisor / Heavy Vehicle Charge Hand / Workshop Chargehand / HGV Chargehand: This role is responsible for maintaining and repairing the vehicles operated by local authority client from their Wellingborough depot. This includes carrying out all work to a high standard within this workshop facility, ensuring adherence to vehicle maintenance and compliance regulations, and that all paperwork is completed timely, accurately and to a high standard. The workshop chargehand will also be responsible for liaising with the onsite customers to ensure vehicles are maintained, and defects repaired efficiently. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES for the HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Charge Hand / HGV Workshop Foreman / HGV Workshop Supervisor / Heavy Vehicle Charge Hand / Workshop Chargehand / HGV Chargehand: * ·Carry out vehicle inspection examinations in line with VOSA procedure and Company policy. * ·Test and check that systems and components are safe, secure and working properly. * ·Diagnose faults by isolating systems or components that may have caused or potentially cause a problem. * ·Repair or replace worn parts ahead of the vehicle’s breakdown or damage. * ·Gain authorisation to repair or fit parts as required by Company Procedure. * ·Test drive vehicles where permitted and correct driving license is held. * ·Use various equipment, including hand-held and onboard compression gauges or diagnostic computers. * ·Maintain a degree of flexibility while working in order to provide adequate cover to serve customer and workshop requirements. * ·Ensure daily VOR report is sent to Workshop Controller before 9am to be sent with the combined NNC report. * ·Ensure all service and maintenance paperwork is completed to DVSA standards in a timely manner . * ·Complete daily handover to the workshop controller on fleet status/repair progress * ·Maintain efficient day to day operation of the workshop and manage running defects to keep VOR to a minimum. * ·Manage workload to ensure smooth running of workshop. * ·Maintain and establish a safe, secure and compliant working environment. * ·Ensure the safety of all personnel and security of premises under your control. * ·Obtain accurate costings from suppliers and set to estimate for fleet desk approval when required. * ·Monitor consumable stock onsite i.e. oils and other fluids and order replenishments when required. * ·Ensure warranty parts returned and relevant paperwork completed Essential Requirement / Skills for the HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Charge Hand / HGV Workshop Foreman / HGV Workshop Supervisor / Heavy Vehicle Charge Hand / Workshop Chargehand / HGV Chargehand: * HGV Apprentice Served Qualification * Municipal vehicle maintenance experience * Driving licence HGV Class 2 (minimum) * Good communicator and listener * Ability to multi-task in a busy environment * Diagnostic and problem-solving skills * Good reading and computer literacy * High level of Health and Safety awareness Desirable Skills · Leadership and managerial skills · DVSA HGV Inspection Course · Electrical and hydraulic systems knowledge If this role sounds like a great next step for your career then please send your CV to Danica Baker at Sprint Recruitment
