Structural Design EngineerPermanentLocation: RedditchSalary: £50,000 - £60,000 (+ benefits)We are seeking a Structural Design Engineer to join a busy and technically focused engineering team delivering complex projects across the UK. This role offers exposure to challenging, non-standard engineering problems and the opportunity to work on bespoke structural and temporary works solutions that support critical project delivery.The position is primarily office based in Redditch and would suit an engineer who enjoys hands-on design responsibility, problem solving, and working closely with project and engineering teams.The RoleYou will be responsible for the design, checking and development of structural and temporary works solutions used to support complex engineering and installation activities.Key responsibilities include:Producing and checking structural and temporary works designs, including calculations, drawings and design certificatesCarrying out structural analysis of existing structures and equipment to ensure compliance with relevant standards and safety requirementsDesigning new structural solutions and modifications to existing designs where requiredProducing detailed drawings suitable for manufacture and implementationSupporting project costing and estimating by providing design input and technical informationCollaborating closely with engineers, project teams and other stakeholders to deliver safe, practical and efficient solutionsAbout YouYou will be a proactive and well-organised engineer with a strong technical foundation and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment.Key attributes include:Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with colleagues at all levelsAbility to work both independently and as part of a collaborative teamGood time management and the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritiesProfessional, approachable and reliableFlexible and adaptable approach to workSkills & ExperienceBEng or MEng in Civil or Structural EngineeringTypically 3+ years' experience in a structural or temporary works design roleExposure to temporary works design and project-based engineering environmentsWorking knowledge of BS 5975 and experience with steelwork and timber design codesProficiency in structural analysis and CAD software (e.g. Tekla TEDDS, STAAD Pro, AutoCAD)Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status (or actively working towards it)Ability to support, coach or mentor junior engineersStrong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPointFull UK driving licenceWhat's on OfferInvolvement in technically challenging and varied engineering projectsOpportunity to work on bespoke designs rather than repetitive or standardised workOffice-based role with strong engineering and project collaborationA role that supports continued professional development and progression
