About the roleWe are currently looking for a Gas Turbine Engine Test Cell Lead & Project Support to work within our Gas Turbines division.The successful applicant will lead operations at Score Energy’s Ground Level Engine Test Facility and will be responsible for the acceptance testing of Avon and RB211 Gas Turbines.As Gas Turbine Engine Test Cell Lead, the individual will oversee all aspects of the engine test cell including the operation, maintenance and development of the engine test cell. Ensure safety, mechanical compliance and engine performance validation. Focus on operational excellence and bring development and improvement to the testing process and test cell. Individual shall supervise a team of seconded technicians and engineers, manage testing schedules and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.All work shall be carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures and work instructions and where conflict may occur it is their responsibility to escalate as necessary or discuss with the assigned production area(s).Supporting ICE projects as directed by the Lead Engineer when not engine testing.Primary ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise a team of technicians and engineers, seconded for engine testing activitiesLead engine test as Test Controller for the delivery of each engine testOversee the operation of engine test cell, including setup, inspection and test of the gas turbineLead the growth strategy on testing more engines per year, and then also increasing testing capability of the test cell to bring in different engine typesEnsure adherence to standard operating procedures and safety protocols for all test cell operationsDevelop and maintain testing schedules, prioritising engine tests based on operational requirement and customer needs, and coordinate with other departments to optimize resource allocation and minimize downtimeReview and evaluate test results to ensure compliance with performance specifications and quality standards, and prepare reports and documentation summarising test results, performance metrics, and operational activitiesImplement corrective actions and process improvements as necessary to enhance testing efficiency and accuracy, and develop and maintain standard operating process and procedureEnsure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, including ISO, PTM standards and OEM specificationsMaintain documentation and records related to testing activities for audit and inspection purposesOversee the maintenance and calibration of test equipment and facilities to ensure reliability and accuracyCoordinate with maintenance staff to address equipment issues and minimize disruptions to testing operations.Communicate regularly with stakeholders, including engineers, managers, and customers, to provide updates on testing progress and issuesProvide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working, and their development in safety, quality an excellenceSupport other areas of the Instrumentation and Control, and Engineering departments as priorities permitQualifications and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or HNC with considerable industry experience in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related fieldPrevious experience in gas turbine engine testing, with proven experience in a supervisory or leadership roleIdeally experience with Rolls-Royce Avon / Siemens SGT-A20 and Rolls-Royce RB211 / Siemens SGT-A35Strong knowledge of gas turbine engines, testing methodologies, and acceptance requirementsExperience with control systems, data acquisition systems, instrumentation, and test cell equipmentFamiliarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and continuous improvement methodologiesBehaviours and skillsCommitment to continual improvement and flexible approach to change.Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage performance and motivate individuals and a team.Strong interpersonal skills to enable effective working relationships with the ability to effectively communicate with staff across the business and with contractors.Time management skills and the ability to work under time pressure in a fast-paced environmentAbility to multitask, prioritize workload, and make decisions in a fast-paced environmentStrong work ethic, customer service mentality and “can-do” positive attitudeAbility to represent the company professionally with customersMaintain a safe working environment to avoid risks to self and others, and proactively participate and encourage others to participate in company HSEQ initiativesPromote open communication, support change and support team leaders, managers and directors in a positive manner.Planning and organising skills to include effective prioritising and resource managementAbout UsWith facilities in over thirty locations spanning five continents, Score employs more than 2000 people, including 230 apprentices.
