In order to strengthen still further the quality of our Sixth Form a new purpose built Sixth Form Study Centre was opened in 2014. We are seeking to recruit a Sixth Form Study Centre Manager to take the lead in sustaining and developing further a strong culture of independent study in the Sixth Form and provide administrative support to the Sixth Form staff team. We are looking for a confident and assured person to create and maintain a positive environment for focused private study. The post-holder will ensure sixth formers study silently and productively when they are on study periods. The role will also involve supporting our Sixth Form team in providing advice and guidance regarding Higher Education and careers choices, in particular supporting the UCAS applications process, used by students to apply to university. The post-holder will also be involved in the administration of applications to the Sixth Form, and support in monitoring attendance of Sixth Form students. The role includes some liaison between parents and members of the Sixth Form team, for example in setting up appointments. Main Responsibilities Sixth Form Study Centre For the majority of the working day, the postholder will be based in one of the sixth form study rooms where the role will involve: establishing a purposeful and dynamic working environment in the Sixth Form Study Centre; managing and updating Careers & HE resources available to students, in consultation with relevant staff liaising with the Learning Resources Centre Manager and the Student Supervisor to co-ordinate Sixth Form study. Sixth Form Support Supporting and promoting the attendance of students on Taster Days, Open Days and other Masterclass opportunities; Managing bookings for for sixth form admissions, He or careers advice; Assisting the Sixth Form team with HE-related events and Sixth Form enrichment activities; Supporting the Sixth Form team in ensuring the Sixth Form Dress code is adhered to by students; Supporting the Assistant Director of Sixth Form in tracking and monitoring attendance; Provide administrative support for Sixth Form admissions. This will include managing databases, mail merge etc; Assisting with aspects of induction, student queries, student subject options and timetables and UCAS/Sixth Form, attendance at taster days, general administration, as part of the Sixth Form team. Providing administrative support for sixth form work experience; Tracking the destinations of sixth form leavers; Whole‑school administration Undertaking any other additional tasks as reasonably requested by the Head of Sixth Form or headteacher Person Specification Excellent administrative, organisational and communication skills; Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines; Ability to work at the same time both independently and as part of a team; Confident and able to build positive relationships with a diverse range of staff; Strong empathy with the School’s Christian values.
