Mechanical Design Engineer Location: ManchesterSalary: £43,000 – £53,000 (dependent on experience)The BusinessA well-established machinery manufacturer designing and building bespoke equipment used by customers worldwide. The business has built a strong reputation for equipment quality, innovation, and customer service.The RoleThis is a unique opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to take full ownership of mechanical design within the business.The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing new machinery from scratch, leading concept development, prototyping and R&D, and taking designs through to manufacture. You’ll work closely with production, electrical/control panels, service engineers and project delivery teams, playing a key role in the continued growth of the business.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign bespoke machinery from concept through to manufactureProduce 3D models, assemblies and detailed drawings using Autodesk InventorLead R&D, prototyping and new machine developmentDesign sheet metal and stainless-steel fabricated componentsEnsure designs are practical, efficient and manufacturableSupport build, test, installation and commissioning phasesCollaborate with production, projects and service teamsContribute ideas to improve machine performance, build quality and efficiencyRequirementsMechanical Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within a machinery manufacturing environmentBackground designing bespoke machinery or handling equipment Strong experience using Autodesk InventorGood understanding of manufacturing processes and materialsExperience with sheet metal designExperience in food, beverage or packaging machinery (desired)What’s On Offer£43,000 – £53,000 salary depending on experience30 days holiday (including bank holidays + Christmas shutdown)Workplace pensionStable business with low staff turnoverReal freedom to design, innovate and create new machineryOpportunity to build and shape a mechanical design function long-term
