All Hallows is part of the Shrine of Julian of Norwich, which perpetuates the memory, teaching and spiritual legacy of Julian of Norwich, the medieval anchoress and mystic who lived here six centuries ago and authored the first known book in English by a woman. As well as All Hallows, the Shrine includes a visitor centre for pilgrims and tourists and St Julians Church next door, which contains a chapel on the site of Lady Julians Cell. We are seeking a motivated, efficient and energetic person to serve as a valued member of the team offering vital support to the resident Hospitality Manager in his role overseeing All Hallows Guesthouse and the Julian Centre with their international reach. Hospitality is at the heart of the mission and purpose of the Julian Shrine. All Hallows Guesthouse, our unique urban retreat in the heart of the city, exists to offer environmentally friendly accommodation to visitors and pilgrims. We believe that rest can be found only in a clean environment, and we are seeking a housekeeper who can take ownership of the space and is in sympathy with our vision for the restfulness that can only be achieved in a clean and tidy facility. As housekeeper your role is fundamentally important to the experience of all guests and others on the staff team, and you will be expected to work in cooperation with the rest of the team to ensure the facilities are spotless and well-maintained. The successful applicant for this new post will be enthusiastic for cleaning, willing to engage and champion environmentally friendly cleaning practices, and proactive in going beyond surface-level cleaning to ensure all areas are given thorough attention regularly, including places rarely seen or noticed. In addition to general cleaning and tidying, the role requires turning over rooms after check-outs, including the ability to or willingness to learn bed making with hospital corners, and following a strict routine of cleanliness for each room to make ready for use by other guests. it is ready be used by other guests. The housekeeper will also be involved in laying out our organic and locally sourced continental breakfasts and cleaning up after breakfast.
