Development Clerk of Works / Construction Inspector Widnes and surrounding areas (field based) £40,349 - £46,401 Permanent, Full Time 37 hours per week – Flexible Working Join Halton Housing and help deliver high-quality developments across our organisation. This flexible role is field and remote-based, with office attendance when required. You’ll advise on design and technical specifications at pre-contract stage and ensure contractors meet technical standards, statutory requirements, and Employer’s Requirements. What You’ll Do: * Advise on the design and technical specification of schemes at pre-contract stage. * Play a key role in verifying that contractors and consultants are delivering works in accordance with technical specifications, statutory requirements, and the Employer’s Requirements. * Regularly attend on site to check the progress of building work and liaison with on-site teams. * Maintain detailed site notes, photographic evidence and records of site activity. * Oversight and supervision of consultant Clerk or Works allocated to other projects, to provide assistance where necessary. * Ensure adequate supervision of allocated projects to ensure works are carried out with due diligence, conform to current building best practices and meet health and safety/ CDM criteria. What You’ll Need: * A relevant construction qualification and extensive experience of new build housing construction. * An understanding of construction sequencing, quality control methods and CDM principles. * Thorough understanding of Building Regulations and Building Warranty standards (NHBC, LABC or similar). * Ability to analyse and monitor information/data, identify trends and recommendations. With excellent observational and diagnostic skills with the ability to confidently communicate within the project team and across the range of the organisation (up to Director level), through both verbal communication and written report form. * Ability to constructively challenge and give/receive feedback to all stakeholders about all areas of the business. * Competent ICT skills including all Microsoft packages, document sharing platforms and on-site software. * Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
