Deputy Payroll Manager Salary: £37,000 - £40,000 (DOE) Location: Middlesbrough | Hybrid after probation period Hours: 36.25 hours, Monday-Friday We're recruiting two Deputy Payroll Managers to join a well-established payroll function supporting a complex client portfolio. This is a hands-on role combining payroll delivery with people management and service oversight. The role: Support the Payroll Manager with day-to-day payroll operations and team leadership Oversee service delivery, accuracy and SLA performance Manage, coach and develop payroll team members Act as a deputy point of contact for escalations and workflow management Contribute to process improvements and ongoing projects About you: Proven payroll experience (pensions experience beneficial but not essential) Previous deputy, supervisory or team-lead experience Strong attention to detail and confidence managing workloads and deadlines Comfortable working with systems and Excel Able to attend the office full-time for the first 6 months for training (hybrid thereafter, potentially sooner depending on progress) This is a great opportunity for an experienced payroll professional ready to step into a deputy-level role with clear responsibility and development
